survival prognosis after fly strike??? UPDATE on Roy!!

Hey, I haven't been giving you answers as I don't have any, but I've been following this thread because you have been taking such good care of roy, it was heartwarming. It is terribly sad when a chicken is just too old, when anything turns old really, and it seems like there is nothing you can do for it. But it sounds like you are taking the best possible care of your rooster, it's the best your can do, and I'm know he appreciates it. Wishing the you the best!

Thank you, you are so sweet to be following this thread. I have done all that I think I can do. It is up to him and nature to work it
out. If I end up loosing him, I will be ok because I did all that I could and I know that. I will just concentrate on making what ever
time he has left enjoyable and with as much happiness as possible.

Here are some pics of my Roy. He is the best rooster, the first rooster that I ever had. At first I did not want him because I heard that rooster are mean and aggressive. I tried to re-home him with no luck, thanfully. I raised him from a chick, I am glad that I kept him. He is the most friendly rooster that I have ever known. I had no idea that roosters could be so sweet. I am lucky to have had him. I will keep you all posted on his condition.

It is possible but maybe it is a combo of age and recovery vs heat and I will still pray he gets his spring back. He is Georges and I love the ladies saddles!

It could be the heat as well. We are in the upper 90's here. Come to think about it, they are all running a little slow sue to the heat. I am sure that is hard on him as well.

I dont know about you or Roy but in my house we still are recovering from just seeing the mags in maggie even though she was not strong enough to make it. and NO ONE! will ever eat rice again! Cant even think about making it for the Ladies. Healing takes time. I will keep hoping here for both of you. You stay vigilant and the good caregiver you have been.
