~*~Survive The City: A Stray Dog Role Play~*~

Raven watched the interactions between her dad and his mother without interrupting. Cosmo seemed raring to go and see her grandmother, but was restrained by one of Raven's larger paws, which sat firmly on Cosmo's shoulders.

Dixie padded up beside Mystery. "I'm glad you're okay," she said softly, offering a smile. "If you ask me, Slate's just ordering a painful death, messing with my family the way he is." she growled under her breath, another of her grouchy tones not meant to be directed at those around her.

"I did see him wandering about the alleyways a few times," Raven said. (If that's okay!) "I wondered what had become of him, he was acting rather weird!"

Zahlia shook her head in a troubled way. "He reminds me so much of..." She cut that thought short, glancing to Mystery as if regretting that she had brought it up. But Mystery seemed to understand, and he shrugged it off, moving on in the conversation, soon smiling and enjoying talking with his mother.

Meanwhile, Grimm silently approached Dixie, looking a little bit timid as he did. "Dixie," he greeted in his gruff tone. "It's good to see you doing well." His expression was blank and unreadable, but anyone that knew the Large Munsterlander knew by the sincerity in his brown eyes that he meant what he said. He looked past Dixie toward her many offspring, nodding as if somewhat impressed. The last time he had seen her, he had helped her fight off the beastly Delano. They were both Jargoans then, or at least Grimm was and Dixie was attempting to return to them.

Siyu, looking curiously to the similarly-aged dogs, padded over and smiled in greeting. "Hello," she said, dipping her head slightly to each in turn. "My name is Siyu."

Jet, who tended to be shy around she-dogs he thought were pretty, ducked behind Indigo. At the same time, Minty stepped forward to return Siyu's greeting. "I'm Minty. Nice to meet you," she said, and she glanced around at her siblings, unsure of whether they wanted to introduce themselves or not.

Dixie nodded thoughtfully as Zahlia trailed off. She let Mystery speak and her attention wandered, until Grimm addressed her. She grinned sheepishly. She remembered the situation in which Grimm had last seen her--an ex Jargoan making an attempted return. "I know where I belong, now," she said softly, speaking her thoughts to no one in particular.

Her gaze moving to her pups, she smiled at Grim. "They're quite a crew." And in that moment she realized how proud of them she was.

Grimm nodded, following her gaze over the many dogs that now stood at the base of the Ritualist's tree. His expression was unchanging. "I must say, though," he began, drawing his eyes away from the group and back to Dixie, "I never expected that you would become mates with him." He gestured toward Mystery, who at that moment was chuckling at something that had been said in his conversation with Zahlia and Xhanli. Mint, Siyu, Indy, and Jet had joined them, and the lot of them seemed to be quite enjoying themselves. "He is a mystery, isn't he?" Grimm muttered. This was purely coincidental, as he had never asked Mystery's name and only knew him as Viridian from when the brute, Ulrich, had called him by that name. "I can't explain it, but... There is something about him that makes me uneasy." He shook his head slowly, his rich, brown eyes locked on Mystery again as if captivated by the dog.

Dixie nodded. "Neither did I," she replied, her voice low. She chuckled a bit, glancing to him. Her gaze shot back to Grimm as he said that last statement. "What do you mean?" she said, her voice almost angry-sounding. Her gaze had turned cold as ice and she seemed fairly annoyed.

"I'm not sure," responded Grimm. He met Dixie's gaze, not in a challenging way, but an uncertain one. "I don't mean to offend, either," he added calmly, noting her demeanor. Pausing, he spared another glance toward Mystery, then returned his attention to Dixie. "Did you ever meet the dog named Ridge?" His voice had gone low as well, for he didn't want Zahlia to overhear his words. He was sure that Mystery wouldn't want to hear, either, though he knew Zahlia better than he did Mystery. "He was known as the Soldier to Zahlia, Xhanli, and I, but later on, he had been called the Fury. I sense something similar in your mate that I felt on the few occasions I met Ridge." He was stony and serious in his words, and his eyes held some concern, hidden in his guarded expression.

Dixie laughed, finishing with a snort. "Know him? I had the pleasure of ending him! .. With the help of.. Mystery," she added. Her expression changed, as she looked away for a moment. She looked innately disturbed. "I have.. seen it in him. It shows, sometimes.. Scares me. And my older daughters."

Grimm looked a bit impressed that Dixie had helped to take down the brute. This stuck especially in his mind after thinking of how Ridge was. He would have been furious to know a she-dog had taken him down.. This seemed like divine justice to Grimm. The medical dog's gaze moved to Zahlia at that thought, specifically the scar that adorned her throat. Ridge had done his best to kill Zahlia, but she had survived, and better yet, she had taken the sight from one of Ridge's eyes in her escape. And then Grimm looked to Mystery for a few moments, silent and stony as usual.

"Do you trust him?" he asked suddenly, looking back to Dixie again. His eyes showed that this was of great importance to him. Though he didn't know Dixie well, he felt a sort of kinship with her, them both being ex-Jargoan dogs.

Dixie followed Grimm's gaze. Her eyes rested on the scar on Zahlia's throat; it did, indeed, look like Zahlia had seen a lot. Dixie looked up at Grimm as he, rather unexpectedly, asked her his question. She smiled, her eyes twinkling. And she replied, without hesitating. A firm, confident, loving reply... "Yes. I do trust him."

She shot a look back at Mystery and smiled. How he had turned her life around, she thought.

Grimm was silent for a few moments longer. "Then I wish you all the best," he replied, in his usual grim way. He got to his feet, looking toward the dogs gathered at the base of the Ritualist's tree with a frown on his maw. "I should probably get back to my pack," he said, this time in a tone loud enough that it caught Mystery and Xhanli's attention.

"See you soon, my friend," replied Xhanli, dipping his head as Grimm turned back toward the park.

Mystery, meanwhile, padded to Dixie's side. "What were you two talking about so secretively?" he asked in a joking tone, giving her an elbow. He chuckled a bit, but soon let his laughter fade. "You'll never guess why Grimm was here," he said, himself looking a bit grim at the mention. His green eyes, filled with kindness and adoration, moved to meet Dixie's gaze, and he gave her a somewhat sad smile.
