Dixie looked at him as he heard the weak sounds he made. Her brain worked furiously to process what he'd murmured and, finally, she understood: he'd said "Dixie"! With a slight wag of her tail, she looked at him with glassy, teary-eyed eyes and said, "Yes, Mystery?"

Morado walked carefully along with Celeste, following Saffron to her den.

Mystery felt to weak to even look, though he felt a bit warmer at Dixie's response. Gathering his strength, he managed to say, "...Am I... Dead..?" His words were strained and hard to understand, as even his mouth was hard to move with the extent of the weakness that Teal had caused.

Saffron finally stopped and ordered the two young males to stop as well. "Okay, lay him down gently on the floor in my den," she commanded, as they had stopped in her den and were now standing smack-dab in the center of it. Several clumps of plants, all fresh, sat in corners, as well as tons of dry oak leaves and many other herbs.

Dixie shook her head. "No, you're not dead... See, I knew you shouldn't have fought Teal!" she added. "Wait... What happened to Teal? Where is he, now? Did he lose? Did you kill him?" she asked, her questions relentless.

Saffron finally whapped a paw gently over Dixie's maw. "Shh..." she hissed softly. "Don't wear him out with your foolish questions!" she said sternly. "Celeste, Dixie, Morado," she addressed the dogs with a firm, calm voice. "Go back to your dens. You cannot stay here while I work; you may come and visit Viridian after I have finished cleaning his wounds." she concluded. Walking up to Dixie, she added, "You should go home and rest." She placed a small package of Juniper Berries beside the she-dog. "Eat these as often as you need to keep your strength up,"

Taz stepped in front of her like a body guard. "Don't worry," he whispered to her.
Ella chuckled at his bravery and began walking away, still nervous, but trying to get away from the human. "C'mon, brave guy!" she chuckled, running off.

Taz's mind cleared of the memories. He snapped back into the real world, and followed Ella, moving quickly and silently. Somehow, he was mysteriously pulled towards their den....

Morado carefully lowered the wounded dog to the floor, doing his best to make sure that Mystery's head didn't hit the ground hard. Slipping out from under Mystery, he looked back at the weak dog with his brow furrowed. "Hope the fellow's alright," he muttered. Still, he couldn't help but look to Dixie with some interest. At Saffron's words, he nodded and left, off to the mines again. He had some digging to do still.

Mystery exhaled deeply, as if in relief. So if he wasn't dead then... Neither was Dixie... He felt warmth spreading through him, and the numbness began to fade. His eyes still shut, he drew in a deep breath with the intent to speak, though the effort was exhausting. "Dixie... I need to... say..." He was too tired to finish the sentence, falling silent.

Dixie's questions made him think back to the fight with Teal. All was going well, and then... A bite to the back of his neck... This was a move that should have killed him instantly, but apparently Teal's aim had been off... He supposed he was lucky... He managed the tiniest smile. "...some... something," he finished his sentence at last.

Celeste slipped from the den at Saffron's command, but Dixie remained, her jaw set firmly. "I'm staying until he finishes speaking to me," she said decisively. Saffron nodded, offering a knowing smile and dipped her head. Busying herself in the far end of the den, looking over the herbs and selecting a few choice stems and stalks. Dixie turned her attention back to Mystery.

"What is it , Mystery? Is something wrong?" she asked, her heart sinking at the thought that Mystery might say something of bad news to her. She studied his expression intently, her body trembling with the effort of standing.

Ella ducked inside the den and noticed that he was following. She smiled.
