Quote: Dixie nodded. "Yeah, I guess so..." she said softly. "But we will have a family... Right? Because I swore myself that if I ever settled down with a guy, I would make sure I became a mother... It's something I've always wanted to be..." she added, a dreamy look filling her gaze. She shook her head, realizing she'd probably made Mystery feel quite nervous, now. "But it's okay; I understand... I suppose I am a little silly, rushing things so." she concluded, offering a smile. "Besides, I don't know if you'd hold up as a father without some time to prepare," she joked, poking him in the side with her nose, her eyes once more dancing with laughter.

Mystery, now feeling guilty, looked to Dixie and observed her behavior. She really did want to be a mother... Mystery swallowed hard. It would make her happy... But he just wasn't sure about his role in raising pups. He was good at being friends with dogs younger than him, as Celeste and Light showed, but as a father..? But when he looked to Dixie, and how dreamy she got at the idea, he felt his stomach twist into knots. What was he going to do?

"Well, I mean..." he began, though he wasn't sure what he was going to say. "How do... I mean, what if..?" He trusted Dixie, and he supposed she was the best one to share his concerns with, but he just couldn't put it into words. "I don't know if I can be a good father," he blurted out finally, looking sheepishly to Dixie.

Quote: Dixie smiled at him. "I'm sure all dads think that at one point or another in their lives... You'll be a perfect father," she said gently. She had been tempted to say he couldn't be any worse than her father, but she decided against it and kept her mouth shut. She looked at him and realized that he really was truly worried that he would be a poor father.

"In fact, it probably comes naturally," she added with a smile. "I think all fathers know right from wrong and what's best for their pups... You just have to believe in yourself."

Mystery, still a bit uncertain, managed a sheepish smile. "Really? ...Really?" The second time he said the word sounded a bit more skeptical than the first, but as he looked at Dixie he felt reassured without her having to say anything. Could he do this? With Dixie by his side, he had always felt like he could do anything... Raising pups would be no different.

Slowly, cautiously, and with a thoughtful look on his face, he finally nodded. "Okay." His smile grew just a bit. "Yeah, as a matter of fact, yeah!" He was starting to warm up to the idea.

Quote: "Well, I want one named Josefina!" Ella said firmly.

Taz's dizziness faded away slowly, and he chuckled. "I like that name, Josefina."
Ella nodded with a smile. "I was hoping you would; I've always loved that name," she said.

He reached over, grooming her neck gently.

Quote: Dixie, surprised to hear his cheerful exclamation, whirled around to look at him, surprise written all over her face. "Wait, what...?" she asked, excited as well. Her heart seemed to swell with joy and she jumped about, sending flower petals flying as her paws crushed the bed of pansies. She looked at Mystery and felt like howling with joy. "Oh, Mystery...!" she yelped, licking him on the cheek in joy.

"And just think, all the fun and joy our pups will bring us... We'll finally have a family..." she said softly, her gaze returning to that dreamy look as she spoke, clearly deep in thought.

(I already have one pup figured out! I think it'll look awesome!

Taz nodded eagerly. Then his eyes filled with worry. "Be careful," he ordered, looking at her swollen belly. His emotions quickly changed from worry to happiness and joy. "Let's go!" he added brightly.

Ella nodded and loped gingerly along the way, towards the pond.
