A sudden gasp from the crowd of dogs alerted the now scheming Arch to an impending attack, but it was too late. A white blur flew through the air and landed some 3 inches away from the traitorous dog. Arch's cry of agony was that like no other as the infuriated she-dog landed on him, snapping his lower back. The dog gasped for breath, but, paralyzed, couldn't move or defend himself.

"Everestian Pack dogs, let this foolish young male be a warning to you all! Do not avert your eyes from his fate or you will be next!" she howled. That said, she looked down at Arch. "Please, Alpha, have mercy on me; I was stupid to betray you... It won't happen aga-" he was cut short and the last part of his sentence turned to another scream of agony as, before the crowd of dogs forced to watch, his stomach was torn open by Almaz's flashing white teeth.

Laying in a spreading pool of blood lay the wounded, thought to be dead, dog. But he was still alive. Almaz whirled around, leaving him. To her Beta, she said, "Dispose of his body in what way you see fit." The Beta nodded, but upon seeing that Arch was still alive, he asked the Alpha Female what to do about him. Her response was simply, "Kill him." The Beta nodded with glee and the more bloodthirsty dogs of the pack joined in on the dog's final kill. His howls of pain as they slowly shredded him echoed throughout the territory. And so fell one of the dogs that could have led the others to freedom.
(I thought this was the post...)

Raven shuffled her paws embarrassedly, her ears drooping with guilt. Not meeting the old dog's gaze, she mumbled, "I'm sowwy," then scampered behind Mystery and hid in the plumy fur of his tail. Meanwhile, Jade had appeared from behind Dixie and was looking up at Jiyaken, blinking innocently.

"Wow... You're really big. Are you a giant?" he asked, staring boldly up at his father's friend and wagging his tail in a gesture of friendliness. Dixie had to chuckle at that comment, knowing that some dogs were just larger than others. She licked Mystery on the cheek, then sat down and leaned against him, smiling.

(I still love him! EE! He's so funny and sweet, like an old man!

Oh, and, yeah, this Beta will be very trustworthy. Is it okay if it's a girl Beta? She's going to be tied into the plot/mystery that I came up with yesterday! Heehee, you've inspired me and I spent all of yesterday brainstorming and jotting down notes for this plot.)

Jiyaken smiled to Raven. "Not a pro'lem, m'dear," he replied warmly. He gave Jade his attention as the young male stepped forward to speak. Letting out a hearty laugh, Jiyaken shook his head. "No, lad, I'm jus' a bit bigger than yer ma 'n pa," he replied calmly.

Minty braved stepping forward as well, blinking up in alarm at this huge gray dog. "Wooow..." she gasped, her green eyes wide though a smile spread across her maw. Her gaze stopped on his right ear, tattered and torn and mostly missing, and her smile faded a bit. "What happened to your ear?" she asked innocently.

Jiyaken kept smiling, though a sad look had come over his face. Minty didn't notice this, though, instead listening intently as he explained. "Well, li'l lady, that's wha' happ'ns when yeh play too rough with yer brother 'n sister." He blinked away the sadness in his gaze and carefully patted Mint on the head. The pup seemed satisfied with that response, looking away and uttering, "Oh."

Mystery nudged Dixie as he watched his friend interact with his pups. "I believe we may have just found our pupsitter," he murmured in her ear, his heart soaring as he saw how warm and gentle Jiyaken was with the kids. He had always known that Jiyaken loved pups, but hadn't thought too much of it until just then. He trusted Jiyaken more than any other dog in the world, and though they only occasionally met as they went on with their lives, Mystery knew that that fact hadn't changed. It was perfect.

((A female Beta is fine. :D And ooooh boy, fun times ahead! I'm thinking of a little plot involving Minty, myself. ;) ))

Name: Jiyaken (sometimes called Jack)
Gender: male
Age: 4 years
Pack: None (will join Chroma pack)
Rank: loner
Mate: deceased
Personality: A big softie at heart, Jiyaken is gentle and sweet. He is generous to a fault sometimes, putting others’ needs before his own. He is not the kind to judge, having spent his life being judged by his appearance. When caught alone, he can seem lonely, looking longingly into space as if remembering something. But with company, he is perfectly warm and friendly. He is a great story teller and loves pups, often caught reminiscing about having his own.
History: Sometimes, when you catch him alone, you can see the hurt of his past in his eyes, the deep sorrow of loss and betrayal the likes of which one dog should never have to face alone… But as jolly of a soul as Jiyaken is, he doesn’t like to bring others down with his tale of woe.
Breed: Irish Wolfhound
Other:
Picture or Description: Jiyaken is very scarred, with bite marks and slashes all over his chest, shoulders, and legs. He is missing much of his right ear, and has a slash mark over a black spot above his right eye. His eyes are dark blue.

Raven, feeling bolder, now, stepped out from behind her father's tail again and smiled a bit, though her face clouded with worry when she heard him explain his tattered ear. Warily looking around at Minty and Jade, she stepped a few paces away from them. Her new caution of them would die away within the next few moments, though she did not know that and thought her brother and sister were going to hurt her.

Meanwhile, still sitting next to Mystery, Dixie nodded. "Yeah, I think you're right," she said, sensing the full feeling of trust with this Jiyaken character. He might just be some old dog off the streets, but he was, as she had earlier proclaimed, not a bad dog at all! She knew this was true, and was confident enough in this fact to trust Jiyaken with her greatest treasures.

(YEA! And, oh boy, what could it be?!?!?!?! With you, plots are always so darned fun!!!)

Harli lay perfectly still in the grass, exept for the occasional shudder. She had lost a major amount of blood, and was fighting for every second.

Wagging her tail, Mint hopped forward, looking happily up at Jiyaken. There were a few more things she needed to know before she was sure she liked this dog, and as questions flew through her mind, she finally chose the one she wanted to ask the most at that moment. "Do you know stories? Daddy stinks at telling stories," she said.

Mystery looked a little surprised, but meeting Jiyaken's gaze, the two of them chuckled. Afterward, Jiyaken looked down at Minty, laughter still in his voice. "I sure do, li'l one. An' I'll let yeh in on a li'l secret," he said, lowering his voice a bit and glancing at Mystery again. "Yer dad's ne'er bin good at tellin' stories," he said with a chuckle.

Mystery shook his head, though he still smiled. "Oh, you're just saying that!" he retorted. "Minty, Jiyaken is the best story teller in the city, maybe in the world," he added to his daughter.

Minty hopped in a circle excitedly, then crouched and wagged her tail. "What about games? Do you know lots'a games?"

"Minty, why don't you let the poor dog rest?" Mystery suggested at last. He looked to Dixie. "Do you mind if Jiyaken stays with us until he gets his own den? It'll be crowded, but I'm supposed to be guarding him for the next week anyway," he said to her, a hopeful smile on his maw.

Quote: Raven and Jade whined in unison, but Dixie quickly ushered them away, telling them to straighten up the den and fix their nests. Turning back to Mystery, she replied with a smile, "Jiyaken can stay as long as he likes." Her maw bore a warm, welcoming smile and she clearly didn't mind the dog at all; he was clearly trustworthy.
