Mystery watched Saffron leave in a hurry, sensing the urgency in the she-dog's actions. He looked to Mint, who stood as if in shock, her maw hanging open slightly and her eyes on where Saffron had vanished out of the den. "Stay here," he said sternly, turning and following Saffron. He didn't hear his daughter sigh or see her roll her eyes as she flopped to the floor impatiently.

Seeing the truck moments before spotting the two she-dogs, Mystery gasped in alarm and galloped his way over. Wren had reached the opposite sidewalk and looked back at Saffron when she heard the medical dog's call. She tilted her head, not realizing the danger she had just put herself in, and then turned and continued onto the staircase, heading up the side of the building.

Meanwhile, Mystery barreled after Saffron, his eyes flashing between her and the truck. "Move!" he barked desperately, flying out into the street. His paws outstretched, he leapt for Saffron--the least he could do was get the medical dog out of danger!

Meanwhile, Mystery barreled after Saffron, his eyes flashing between her and the truck. "Move!" he barked desperately, flying out into the street. His paws outstretched, he leapt for Saffron--the least he could do was get the medical dog out of danger!
Saffron gave a sudden burst of speed, leaping towards the sidewalk, when suddenly the front left tire of the truck caught her on the hip and sent her sprawling with a yelp. She rolled a few paces and stopped, laying still,. Blood spread beneath her in a wide, crimson pool.

The driver of the truck slammed on the breaks. "Stupid dogs!" he yelled, tossing a coffee cup at Mystery. "I'm calling the dogcatcher on these mangy fleabags!" he added before gunning the engine and speeding away.

Mystery ran to Saffron's side, his thoughts racing at a panicked rate as he looked between the injured medical dog and the she-dog that was currently scaling a building just paces away. He wasn't a medical dog--he wasn't sure what he could do for Saffron--and someone needed to catch Wren before she got herself killed as well. He was stuck! For a moment, panic began to set into him, chilling his bones and causing his muscles to feel weak. At last, he managed to clear his thoughts long enough to think to call for help. His head tilting back, he let out a rushed howl with the hopes that someone was nearby.

Wren, meanwhile, had gotten about half way up the fire escape on the building when she heard Mystery howl, and this caused her to pause with curiosity. Shaking her head, she continued on her way up the stairs, her eyes watching the steadily approaching roof. That would be a good vantage point for her to call her friend...

Saffron struggled to her feet and looked at the large gash on her side, caused by the skidding tires of the truck. Groaning at the burn of it, she sat down and looked at Mystery. "Well, we're stumped," she muttered. Rolling her eyes to the top of the building, she spotted Wren, climbing ever higher.

Russet's ears perked at the sound of a howl. Mystery's howl. Sensing the urgency in it, he rose to his feet and leaped out of his den. Even on his day of rest, given to him by Cerise, he still couldn't quite get a break! He raced towards the place where the howl had sounded from. Rounding a building, his rugged build briefly snagged on the building's corner. Just ahead of him, he could see a black shape.

(And, just to add some fun to things, I'ma post Raven.)

Raven snuck around the edge of her den. Dixie, had fallen asleep. and now was the perfect time for the pup to make an escape. Raven was no longer a pup, though. By now she was a lanky, scruffy, black she-dog, wolfish and solid black like her father, but with her mother's brown eyes. She was a teenager, now. And with an advanced sense of how to be mischievous, she was sneaking up on Jade, her sister.

(Hope that wasn't too controlling on Cerise, saying she'd given Russet a break... D:)

Mystery looked to Safron with relief as she managed to sit up. "Need help getting back to your den?" he asked, though he followed her gaze to where Wren was approaching the top of the building. It was a hair-raising sight to him--Mystery didn't do heights--but he wasn't sure if there was anything else to be done. He'd have to go get that crazy she-dog.

Hearing Russet approach, though, he turned quickly to face the younger dog. "Russ! We've got to get her down from there before she hurts herself," he explained quickly, motioning toward the she-dog, who had just about reached the roof.

Wren, meanwhile, paid them no attention as she scaled the last set of stairs and leapt up onto the roof. It was flat and filled with gravel, an odd medium to be standing upon so high off the ground, but nothing made sense to Wren in this strange place, anyway! Standing up on her hind legs, she drew in a deep breath and released a harsh squawking call, which she heard echo from buildings in the distance. Was he coming? Would he be here soon? Wren wasn't sure, but she would call until she found her friend!

((You're fine. :) ))

Saffron shook her head. "No; who said I was going back?" she said with a smile, her brown eyes laughing. "I'm fine," she added, but her pained wince, followed by a quick gasp, betrayed her.

Russet, meanwhile, was staring up at Wren. Looking at Mystery, he grinned. "Don't worry; I got this." he said reassuringly. Glancing back up at Wren, he muttered, "Crazy she-dog," before placing a paw cautiously on the first step of the fire escape and pulling himself forwards, ever leery of his newest task.

Moments later, Celeste arrived on the scene. Staring up at Russet and Wren, he said, "Hey, is that that crazy gal you guys pulled out of the ditches?" he exclaimed in surprise. Looking at Mystery, his expression clearly depicted shock. "She's got guts! And so does Russ; I don't do well with heights... At all." he said.

Raven had awoken Jade moments earlier and the two were now scampering down the streets towards a group of young patrols, sneaking a few paces behind to stay out of sight.

(Phew.)

Mystery gave her a knowing look, but didn't press any further, instead turning his attention to Russet as the young dog followed after Wren. When Celeste came onto the scene, he smiled to his friend. "Hey, man," he greeted. "Yeah, no kidding," he added in response to Celeste's remarks about heights. His paws itched with the urge to catch up with Russet and help wrangle Wren off the rooftops, but he wasn't sure if he could conquer his fear enough so to be of any help.

His ears fell back as he listened to the she-dog, belting out harsh squawks the likes of which he had never heard a dog make before. "What in the world is she trying to do?" he muttered, more a spoken thought than an actual question. It wasn't likely that anyone but the strange she-dog really knew.

Balancing on her hind legs, Wren let out another squawk before feeling her head start to spin again. Landing on all fours once more, she shook her head in a futile attempt to clear it, but she didn't let it slow her down much. Though her legs wobbled, she managed to belt out one last squawk before falling to the gravelly rooftop. Her eyes wide and alert, she looked around, scanning the skies. Was that..? No... Maybe her friend really wasn't coming...

Russet had, by now, reached her, and was approaching slowly, so as not to disturb her. He felt bad, treating her as though she was a wild dog, but he had to remind himself that Wren wasn't normal, and likely wouldn't know whether he intended on being friendly or malicious. He had to take this slow. Offering a charming, white-toothed smile, he added, "You wanna come back down from there, now?"

Celeste was watching from below. "C'mon, man, c'mon. You can do it..." he said softly, as though willing Russet not to scare the dog into jumping off the edge of the staircase, which, at the moment, seemed quite likely.

Wren realized then that she had been followed, scrambling to face Russet with a look of alarm on her face. She stared silently for the longest time, at last managing another squawk before scooting backward, away from Russet but toward the edge of the roof. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach. These dogs had her trapped! She needed help! Where was her friend?!

A gasp escaped her maw as in the distance, a squawk similar to the sounds she had been emitting met her ears. She whirled around dizzyingly, her paws brushing the edge of the platform before she stumbled backward to safety. There was but a speck in the sky, but it was growing nearer, and soon the shape of a bird could be identified. It was a hawk of some sort, and it didn't look happy. Its wings drawn in to its sides, it lashed out with its talons, aiming for Russet.

(Geez, maybe I'm not goin' to bed! Look at this! I don't sleep well on suspense!!

Looking where Wren's gaze led, Russet spotted the hawk. Who was that bird.. ? The confused young male stared at the creature for a long while before turning back to Wren.

He inched closer, still smiling welcomingly, and said, "Hey, it's okay. Trust me." Noticing her precarious position, he edged himself in between her and the ledge, which hung several stories above the ground. A fall like that would kill any dog... Including Russet. Russet gulped nervously, and scooted forwards a bit, trying to keep himself from falling. Hearing the swoosh of wings, he realized that he was being attacked by the black hawk he'd seen.

Suddenly, one of the hawk's talons slashed his brow, cutting through the flash and leaving a slash-mark that began to seep blood. The stinging pain caused Russet to wince. He dropped his guard briefly and yelped, stumbling to the edge. Pawing at his head, the salty blood trickled into Russ's eyes, somewhat blinding him. He staggered backwards again, tripped over his paws, and slipped under the guard rail.

Nails scraping the metal surface as he tried to get a grip, Russet howled in terror. He looked down, something he shouldn't have done, and saw his rear legs, dangling in the air, what seemed like miles above the ground. He was going to fall, Russet just knew it! Every muscle in his legs was tense as he tried and tried to lift himself up. Looking to Wren as he gave up the battle for a grip, his gaze told her plainly that it was all up to her. Unless she somehow helped him back up, Russet was doomed to fall to his death.
