Surviving Minnesota!

Lucky Ducks.  Okay.  this week is the week to look for them then isn't it?!  Fun.
Oh Ivie. Tom IS being a son of a gun to DH.  I wonder if DH will hold him and carry him around with his head pushed down.  Dirty little bugger, Tom.  One thing about Tom though is that he probably needs to have a meeting of the minds with DH in which DH can teach him a thing or two.  Put a Fishing net next to his broom.  I guarantee you that it is harmless and Tom will be respecting DH a bit more.

Kloppers -- congratulations on a successful teaching classroom hatch.  Those birds are so much fun!  Aren't they?  And you know those kids will remember this stuff forever.  I talked to my teaching friend and she said she is getting zero done in her classroom. All the kids want to watch the chicks.  ha!

No doubt! I was late to work this morning because i wanted to stay and watch the chick hatch. Hard to walk away! I was happy that there were students there to see it

I dare not comment how many days I was late to work watching baby chicks and my husband keeps a listening ear on too much talk about cute baby chicks.....because that means more pens and more coops he will be building. So I must refrain from commenting on how cute everyone's hatches are. Although I am very impressed by the classroom hatches because those leave a lasting impression on the "city kids".

5 chicks out of eggs as of 4:30, probably at least 1 more by now with several pips. The white leghorn egg was very close to opening and the chick inside looks black! I hope that one makes it as I am very curious

Our speckled Sussex and gold comets are ready to go outside ASAP and we don't have a good space for them with the other flocks yet so I hit up lowes and build myself a Ralphy coop in the fenced yard of the once coop that we don't use hardly ever since the girls are free ranging. This will give them a nice space of their own. Just need to paper and maybe shingle the roof with supplies that are laying around and get a pop door built. I didn't have short enough screws or it would be done.
