I think a started pullet pure-bred goes for $25 at Murray. So a barnyard mix maybe less than that and if older than 2 even less.

I see mixed breed pullets going for 10 bucks a lot on Craigslist.

However, being slightly cheap, I would never pay that.



My Turkey hen still has all 5 babies..

The PC hen is still sitting on nothing and doing the pancake. The other one must be doing a solidarity strike because she is not laying eggs either. I piocked up the pancake last night and had a heart to heart talk with her. I do not think she saw life my way or is ready to quit being broody anytime soon. I am tempted to give her some eggs, but that mean no young PC's this year from her.

I have a BA (actually my MA) that is broody and sitting on 8 eggs. She had 9 but I took the turkey egg and put it in the incubator. I have no idea if Ethel has eggs or babies. She did not want to move so I could see last night. Still having bruises from the other 2 turkeys hens, I decided to let her sit.

The CLB's have nearly stopped laying, it must be spring break time. None of them are broody at least.

My list of things I need to get done is getting longer and longer, my truck is fighting me again, as is my tractor and my ATV. I hate things with engines!

So we had our first thunderstorm last night and I was just curious, do any of you all know if chicks or chickens are scared of the thunder? I have 6 little peeps, and I know they get freaked out when our dogs bark (which makes sense since the natural reaction to a loud alert would be fear), but what about natural noises like storms?

Is everyone recuperating from the awesome weekend weather? It is quiet today!

We worked outside sun up to sun down Friday and Saturday and then spent the day yesterday visit friends up by Delano and going on a 4 wheeler ride. Great days to be outdoors!

The flock gets lazy in the heat and spent most of Saturday lazing under our camper and the truck. The SS and comets are really enjoying being outdoors as well
