Surviving Minnesota!

I just go squat outside and take some toilet paper with me

One time when the power went out for 10 days we had to put my turtles next yo the fireplace

I will do the outside squat when I need to, LOL! even at my advanced age

So hot today, I did end up bringing the girls in and putting them in the large dog crate in the basement for about an hour and a half to cool off... I let them out at 8 and they were full of energy free ranging for some greens! poor little girls!

How is everybody's chooks?

I went out in my jama's at 11 last night and misted the flock. A couple of times. I did worry overnight but they did fine. Let them free-range all afternoon and they seemed to do better than yesterday in this heat. Tom and his girls were checking out the big coop (memories for them) off and on all day. And Tom was busy running everyone around. It was too hot out for that. But there were plenty of places to go for everyone to stay away from him.

DH and Tom had another round today. DH was telling me about it while we were out to dinner. He was actually taking it in stride and laughing about it. Amazing how life changes. When was it I was thinking Tom had to go to the chopping block? He will definitely be confined, Ralphie, when other people and kids are around. That would be Tom, not the DH.

Hang in there everyone.

Ralphie - the part in the turkey video that especially liked is when you told Sidekick to show you what he had and he got up to show you!

Sorry about the babies. Love those White Sports.

Oh! I names my California White (finally) Betty White. I dunno why I did not think of that earlier in the year. They are a pretty small bird. I wonder what they will lay for egg size and color.

Ralphie your turkey is a sweetheart.

That helicopter is nice, I had a ride in one once it was a Bell something. Took a tour of the Vegas strip, fun!

Oh no Erli. I hope he turns up.

Ralphie it seems Sidekick is ensuring some progeny by being protective of the nest...?

Coop got it's clean out. So nice to have that done for the girls. We had 89 degrees here today and my coop in the shade was 84-85. Nobody really panting. Temps will go to 69 tonight. All coop windows are open.

For tomorrow the girls will get ice cubes with strawberries and mint frozen in them.

I took a ton of pictures of the Illini and Dixie and her Littles. Lots of chicken time in this evening.

DS skied last evening and all day today. He looks like a sun bleached hair/tan skinned ski bum. More lake tomorrow and then the kids go into work tomorrow night.

The tree damage/ roof damage up here is significant. I think we were fortunate overall.

Apparently I need to have a talk with my mom about when I am gone and she had to do the chicken chores!

1/2 hour before I left today I found 2 dozen EE Eggs underneath the coop. I still had to shower so I left ALL 2 dozen by the coop. My mom decided to mix them with the eggs from the layer boxes so now all tinted eggs have to be thrown out!! This is after I told her not to touch the eggs or anything, just to lock the door and close the windows.

My hen with 2 chicks is missing, I didn't look for her, I will get up early and look tomorrow... The 2 chicks were inside the coop but she was nowhere to be found.
Most likely she drowned in the tank, I had it filled up to the top at 1 this afternoon, but I'm assuming no one checked it thought-out the day like I asked them to.
Next likely is my younger sister or mom accidentally locked her in a barn...
Hopefully its the above
