Surviving Minnesota!

Good luck Holms!!!!

ralphie I am sorry for your losses....but if you must kill the predator, just please make it quick and humane. Don't let your anger rule your actions.....remember your training!!!!

Good luck to Holm. I speculate that he is well prepared and has quality Buckeyes to show via Minniechicmama.

Ralphie, I hope you are able to permanently relocate the cat. I am not terribly fond of cats, but a well mannered one can serve the purpose of eliminating vermin and possibly keeping ferals away?

In addition to eating your chicks can you imagine the number of song birds that have been killed by it? Even a well mannered barn cat will still hunt song birds. This is one aspect of them I have a hard time with.

Heading to South Dakota for a few days to visit relatives..

I have found a breeder in Minnesota who breeds black and blue Cochins. They have a trio of black for sale for $80.
They said they could get them to Fargo so I will see when the next time my moms in Fargo.

I know, I love my songbirds, I have the biggest wild bird feeder array in the world. The thought of that thing killing my wild birds drives me crazy.. Judy said the same thing this morning at coffee. She asked if that thing killed any of our wild birds.

I will make it as fast and humanely possible. I am not angry at it, it is doing what a feral cat does. I just need it gone.

So with the rain and mosquitos the ground is putting out a wide array of mushrooms and this rarity. I haven't seen one for a number of years.

Ghost Flower or Indian Pipe. A flower without chlorophyll that requires fungal symbiosis.

Just call me Cliffy Claven.

Ivie...with that coop looking the way it looks it is no wonder Tom is on his toes...not wanting into his coop. Poor boy is a bit rattled about preds I would say. Look at that hardware cloth holding its own! It's good stuff!

I know that, but if i breed the blue and barred will all the babies be blue barred?
Barring is on a sex chromosome making sex links possible . Barred hens and a non barred rooster give pullets with no barring and cockerels with 1 copy barring .Pullets can only have one barring gene males can have 2 copies . So yes you will get some blue barred males and some black barred .
