Congrats @holm25 ! I'll be at the State Fair once for a concert (the 27th) and twice to eat Sweet Martha cookies. Well, unless baby comes early. Time will tell. Anyways, I'll swing by and say hello if you're around =)

I hope everyone is doing well! My chickens will definitely appreciate the cooler day today. Hot, cold, tornado, hurricane.....my ducks don't seem to care about what happens outside. They're......special.

War has been declared and I am leaving for Home Depot so I can purchase more hardware cloth to staple to the outside of the coop and run. There will then be a double layer of metal and then I think I will use sheet metal on all the corners and peaks. This should look real pretty.

I went out about 3:55 this morning because I thought I heard something. I inspected and all was quiet. I went out this morning and the peak of the run is chewed up! Ugh! The DH says I need to see if there is something I can spray on the coop also that will thwart the little rascal. Next will be the trap.

Oh No Ivie. Does DH have a Game Camera so you can see what you're dealing with? Good luck with Everything! Hardware cloth will help...no doubt. Wow. Darn Preds.

Ivie, have you lost birds? The spray insulation foam might be another option for the corners and peaks if they aren't too large. Although I suppose something incredibly determined could chew it.

Ivie, you need a came camera! Walmart has some good basic ones for 45 bucks.. I now own 3. Shhhhhh Judy does not need to know everything. Don't forget to get a SD card.



Nothing visited last night. Thankfully.

I have started my downsizing. I sold 2 Creamettes this morning. They are both at POL. Beautiful looking birds. The woman wanting them was excited about the egg color. She picked the ones with the largest crests, she was ecstatic about them. She was holding and petting the one when it leaned back and bit her. She still like her.

She picked on lighter one with a perfect tail that I had to refuse her. I was bad and showed her all my birds, She had new knee high boots though so I figured it was safe.


Ed is in jail today, He pecked the heck out of Bert's butt! I think I have him locked out of Bert's pen now, I hope. Bert bit me while I was jailing him.

Nothing else new, lots of work to do.


Holm Congrats! I have been trying to return your call, but cannot get through, call me. BTW empty your mailbox! BTW Holm have you sought out professional help for being beaten by your little sister, or are you dealing with it ok?

Tell her Grats too, Judy and I are proud of both of you! Now tell me one of you showed one of my birds!!!!!

I am so happy for Holm and so proud of how he has taken care of those Buckeyes! Yes, I bred them, but he did the hard work of raising them and getting them ready to show, which if anyone has ever shown poultry knows, it doesn't just happen that they look their best, they need to be fed right, housed right, and then prepped for show in the right way too. So, to see such an accomplishment by such a young person brings joy to me for what I do to be a part of that. @holm25 you did the Buckeyes justice and you just ROCK!!! Now, I just gotta get up to State Fair when you show. There are some White Silkies from Dodge County that will be showing too up there that I have a particular interest in

I am just so glad to know there will be Buckeyes in the show too!!!

I forgot to mention and Minnie's post reminded me. The woman that got the creamettes today really liked the white sports. She wanted to know when she could get one of them....

I really like the sports, I would never have guessed a pure white bird could look so good!

Ralphie never show the ones you want to keep . Once you get talking you accidentally tell what you like about that one . Then they want it . I learned that selling years ago . Now I meet people somewhere . Biosecurity is the reason I give . Which is part of the reason . The other reason is it is a different world than the one I grew up in . People may come back and steal or turn you in for something they perceive as wrong . Never happened to me but I know people who had it happen .
