Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning all :)

I was out at dawn to check on the new girls, they are not mixing with the flock yet but staying in the coop until I threw some scratch in the run. Then they went right back inside when I went in the house so I'll go out and sit later on. I put a water font inside the coop until I know they can drink from nipples.

Ralphie is correct I went into the bombing coop, I wasn't too worried I'm totally washable. But there are also turkeys in those rafters.

Those are known as large long range bombers..

Well, it is that time of year. I am thinking of lighting the brush and refuse pile which my wife adds to all summer from her jobs. I usually wait til Xmas eve day but am motivated to do it before too covered with snow. We had about 3 inches over the weekend and another 3 to 6 forecast for this afternoon and tonight.
This is by far the biggest ever. If you see the flames at your house Ralphie you know it is burning well. An Amur Maple and Sparkler flowering crab may not survive this experience, but they were volunteers in the first place.

What you need and want is White Legbars..... I happen to know someone who will have some for you this spring....

You will be the envy of North Dakota..

Morning BC.. I went out and cut our Christmas tree this morning.  Now the rest is up to Judy.

What color of egg do they lay?

Hello to all you Chickeners . . . . I have caught up - once again - and ready to write just a little. No stories - honest. Good for you who are gathering eggs galore. I average about eight eggs a day out of 14 birds and I do have the lights on.

And also another good for you to those who have festive houses decorated for the holidays. I have done a small, very small, amount of decorating and it looks as if I will be able to get by with that as the sons have decided to meet at one of their homes on the 23rd to party together. IDK - putting up a nine-foot tree and the village and two other trees I usually decorate just isn't that interesting to me this year.

I have taken the chicken wire separating the twelve week old chicks from the rest of the flock out of the coop. They have two different roosts to use to get away from the hassles of those craggy old hens. Another hen is going into a full molt. She is wearing an apron now I should go check on her as she needed a wash off before - Gettin bloodied from the pecking from others. May need to put a kennel out to separate her.

Gonna grease up Reggies comb and wattles tonight. A body can feel the chill in the air. Its coming Ralphie!!!!

Caught a head cold from somewhere. Hope it passes quickly.

Quick re-read - I sound bored and boring. Life just is happening. Day in and Day out. I like it - alot - but not much to talk about.

I got a nice tan egg from a PC,EE? this morning.

Interesting!!

I got ZERO eggs from that coop today! Nada! None. Empty Basket... I think I sold all my layers to You and @KlopKlop . Leaving me nothing but the feed eaters.

I am glad you got a tan one, I was worried when you were leaving and said all of yours laid green.

Mine have only laid 4 eggs since they came here. They may have been about settled into that little shed and ready to lay but then we moved them to the corner pen in the main coop. Hopefully they will be ready for general population in a few days of 'through the fence' exposure
