Surviving Minnesota!

I think I could not up load photos the other day do to the commercials on my mobile app, they mess with it. It worked today, but I've stalled out a couple of times reading. Does the golden feather not get rid of mobile app commercials?

Alas, I don't have Carharts. I'm on the Dave Ramsey plan Baby step 2, and it is not in the budget. I wear some snowpants I got on clearance at Cabelas in the bargain cave for $16 and an old coat 2 sizes too big, and I layer. I look a site, but who is going to see me? (Besides dh, the dogs, the chickens, the neighbors, ups guy, Mailman, garbage lady, Ralphie when he stopped over to drop off eggs....) lol

Layering is key. I prefer to layer up 2-3 layers of old hooded sweatshirts (some zip, some pullover) that are varying thickness. That way I can combine to get the right mix coverage and mobility as needed. Plus it is easier to wash chicken poo out of sweatshirts vs a coat. If it's super windy I have an old windbreaker shell I throw over the top.

I just picked up the bibs this year to replace really old snow pants in blew out the knees on working outside. I love them! No more breeze blowing up my back if I move wrong or whatever. My old pair were just pants not bins. And oh so warm! I haven't had to layer the long johns under like I used to. I bought them in July or so 50% off in the $45 range. Well worth it! I was on the fence but they were even the tall size so it was a match made...

Put all that together and I'm sure I'm quite a sight of ratty shades of browns black and maybe blue depending on the day haha

I haven't even broke out my Carhartt bibs yet. They are still hanging in the rafters of the machine shed lol. I have been using some woolies instead which are about 10X warmer anyways. All of my winter gear was Carhartt at the beginning of winter and is now Lamont's gloves, a Buckmasters hat and Carhartt coat and woolies....

I may have to keep watch in july, I hear you about the wind up the back!

16 in the run, 11 in the henhouse, -2 outside. I love it when there is sun on these colder days. Heats up that run due to the greenhouse panels, then I don't worry so much.

The girls 5 minutes ago.

5 degrees in the run. - 12 outside.

@Cluckies ....THANKS. Wow! Do you hire out? I pay in room/board....homemade wine....homegrown beef....and of course free eggs!!!
Hahaha! Well, I can't take the credit, my DH did most of the work, i'm just the idea person (I did the block work though and put up the hardware cloth) But basically I would say, I want something that will do this, and then he would have to come up with how it would work well. The roof on the second section and how it would work with the first section took me the longest to try and explain, he didn't understand what I was talking about and how I wanted it to be, but once he understood, he was able to make it happen. also, like the green house panels, I said I wanted greenhouse panels around my run, he came up with the idea of how to put them on and take them off easily without tools. He is wonderful! But I doubt i'd ever get him to build another coop, that took muchl his time for quite a while! He says we have the most expensive "free" eggs he has ever seen, lol
