Surviving Minnesota!

Let me know how hard that hitch is to put on.

If it is anything like installing a receiver hitch on the back or the plow mount i just put on last weekend it should be real slick. they should be designed to align to existing holes in the frame and you just slot in some bolts (1/2 or 5/8 shank) and torque it down. I could see the value in having one of those if you are constantly putting a trailer into a shed and need to maneuver. I wouldnt mind one for pushing around my 4 wheel grain wagon. backing that thing around is not in my skill set.... probably not a good enough justificaiton though.

Judy has given a new meaning to the Underwear chicken coop run..

She made me promise to not tell the people on this thread about it..

She did not say I could not tell the turkey people or you people that I told the turkey people...

My husband and I are laughing hysterically! My response is, I live in the country for a reason. She just upped the MN hearty factor a few notches.

Going to the sportsman banquet tonight, they have rattlesnake, mountain lion, elk, just to name what they will have. Also going to go see a sweet old lady who isn't doing so well for the last few years.

I did nothing in the shed today.

I turned on a couple heaters this morning gave them time to work, went back out and froze my butt off.

The two heaters were like dumping a cup of Coffee in Lake Superior, they did nothing to warm the area.

I just looked at the forecast Monday and Tuesday look so-so and of course I have appointments both days. Other than that we look to be 10 days from weather we can really get out and do anything in....

I hope this is the last cold spell of the winter........

It seems the cold spell has snapped, as we were way up to +6 today. Spring will soon be here.

Layers it seems that the Sportsman Banquet should be quite interesting with both puddy cat and rattlesnake on the menu ? Your Northerly latitude is nearly as far up here as Minn., but you have the rattlers and are welcome to them !! Perhaps they are not fond of trees ?

Ralphie, I don't see anything wrong with keeping company with a Nudist Chicken Wrangleress, but practicing that in this weather seems extreme !! Pun intended.

That is weird, the rattlesnake thing we have none here and she is north of us.

So I know all of us here have a pretty set opinion of birds of prey, but I had a neat experience. My uncle lives up in chaska. He recently started dating a lady who has a 15yr old daughter. The daughter has a red tail hawk she is training to hunt! She is part of a big club from the cities. Turns out they come down to owatonna to buy quail and rats from a guy here who raises them for prey birds and zoos. They were coming down so we took them around to a few places so she could work with the hawk. It was amazing! It would fly all around and we just kinda tried to trump around and scare up and critters. It dive bombed on time but it didn't get anything. It is a young bird and inexperienced.

So not inly was that fun but now it has me thinking about raising some quail. I've always wanted to but haven't because there was no reason but for fun (as if that isn't a good enough reason). I could try raising a few and provide for this gal and see how it goes. A guy up the road from me keeps quail so I could probably get eggs easy enough. The only catch is I would have to keep them inside my shed. Quail and chickens can't cohabitate as i understand.

Do they need a permit to keep the hawk?

How did they get it? *the hawk not the permit

Is it like a Falcon, on some hunt someday it just decides it is done being a slave to a person and takes off?
