Surviving Minnesota!

Sweetie is laying again. (Ee that lays green eggs). She took a 3 week break. She is my only olive Egger. But she has special powers....my 5 year old nephew has a hard time going to school and has behavior issues. So sweetie only gives him eggs when he is good. Aunties stash of sweetie eggs was down to zero.

Sneaky tricky!!

Not many eggs today. I think I got one CLB and one Toad egg.

The rest were a total loss again. I was out in the barn for a couple hours but it turned "raw" again so I gave up and came in. I need to move eggs to the hatcher but I have had some trouble getting the humidity and temps right. I am close now I think.

Edited to add: I just went out and checked again, I have a good Cuckoo Maran egg I am going to try hatching some of them now

Jerry, EJB or one of you more experienced chicken Wranglers, what happens if you hatch or try to hatch a pullet egg? I have always heard you shouldn't, but why?

This is the current state of our "driveway"....SW North Dakota. Even in the winter - This place really is breathtaking. Literally, the wind blows your breath away!

Better you than me!!

I just moved my eggs to the hatcher, it is disappointing.

Final count:
8 Toad eggs
5 Dom eggs
2 Speckled Sussex eggs
1 cream legbar

Next hatch is the 21st.

I did a quick peek at 5-6 eggs. I am thinking it looks better, will know in a few days. None of the PC eggs look good. Ed maybe out of a job soon.

We've got everything pushed up from the last 3 storms already so nothing like that. The road is just blown over now. Dad bought a blower Friday so no more blocked roads!

Ralphie you are famous!!!

We were up in Two Harbors for a hockey tournament the past few days - came home to nest boxes full of frozen eggs. It's always a bit of a bummer. I usually toss the frozen eggs, but I think I'm going to start keeping them and feed them back to the birds.

And, of course, my favorite part of Duluth and Two Harbors are the breweries! We hit up Fitgers, Castle Danger, and Bent Paddle. Came home with 7 growlers plus some fresh brewed Root Beer from Fitgers. I need to bring a bigger cooler my next adventure that way....

Evening all. it is bitter here... down right bitter!!

It wasnt so bad in the garage. mostly got the wiring done, however i am going to need new battery terminals before i can be done. they are the crappy strap type and they just wont get tight down again with the added wiring of my plow cables. the head lights were real slick. just added a pigtail between the wiring and the bulb. Turn signals call for cutting a wire and im not sure i need turn signals (plow wont be leaving the farm) enough to justify cutting factory wiring. hopefully I'm done with it tomorrow evening.

Flock continues to enjoy the great indoors. they asked tonight if i would set up a TV for them. they are bored and want to catch up on some re-runs
