Tonight I picked in eggs and got 4! The 4thwas definitely a newbie. I suspect the other Illini girl. But will spend some time down at the coop to watch if June is checking out nests, too. The egg is ocean bluish. Very small. So cute. Junior will be quite the busy man this spring I suspect.
Waiting on 2 more pullets for eggs. Woohoo.

Yes, it is. I am thinking of putting something against that which will incline and slow the roll and be a little softer.

What's your thoughts?





BTW you should all know when talking to me I am a terrible person. I just got an PM from a person I decide to not sell eggs too telling me that. I am a tad ticked at this moment....Oh well, I need coffee and to check my chicks..BRB

Ralphie, I think that unless there is a problem with egg shell density the system you have should work fine. Some type of plastic fingers which would roll down on impact prior to contact with the foam would be an insurance policy, but I don't have any good ideas of how it would be created ?

As relates to your being considered a terrible person. I suspect that you can live with that as an occasional thought, as your prior profession likely enabled you to deal with that mindset from some individuals ?

Morning everyone! Thought while listening to an 8 minute kolomyeka would be a good time to come on here

Still no egg from the pullet.. I've decided to go with a Black hen or pullet and a Black Cock or Cockerel from the breeder til he has had a splash pair available. Hopefully I can get them in time for shows.

I need your guys help finding weak and strong points of my cochins tonight so I'll get some pictures.

This is true while I hate people bad mouthing my chickens and egg selling, I can live with it. I cannot tell you how many times I have been called names that would get me detention on here....


I am thinking of putting a softer foam in front of the denser foam to slow the collision. Stupid birds!


The PC hen was trying to eat eggs, but the ceramic egg has taken some of her desire out of it. I think by loading her pen with ceramic eggs I will get hers again. I got one yesterday out of there. They are not using the nest box though. just laying them in the shavings on the floor..

Ralphie dont even listen to them. Many of us know you and know you are not a bad person at all. I dont get why people think they have the right to say that about people they dont even know? Anyways..
