Surviving Minnesota!

Oh Gosh Ivie come on up and see us. It's nothing too fancy around here. Lakes, woods... Couple of chairs to watch Chicken TV.

BC-wannabe? I'm humbled. Lots of lessons learned here...not sure you want to do it like I have with chickens. LOL. But I do enjoy it and sometimes I think I'm luckier than I should be on a few deals with these birds. Jerry has some pretty stock. Those Ameraucanas are nice nice birds.

@holm Probably a good decision on the cross beak...Almost looks like the malformation is growing worse as it grows. Bless those poor animals, that get dealt this hand. You are a good farmer making those tough decisions.

I think the honey and goats milk soap are naturally a bit softer, right? I should probably buy a goat next.
The honey may firm up a bit more than the milk soap. I don't have access to a goat farmer nearby or anything, but I've seen the soap at art and craft fairs and the goats milk soap looks pretty crumbly and soft-yes. I think I may try coconut milk on my first milk soap. But you need to freeze it because as it mixes with lye it really drives up the heat and can scald the milk. Its a bit more involved making it.

I've also done beer soap with Guiness. Had to let it go flat for a couple days. Boil it about 5 minutes...etc. That soap got really warm. Again the sugars...

Yay! I got 14 eggs so far today! That is the most in over a week! But my luck tomorrow will be a 6 egg day. Either way my pullet eggs are becoming normal sized now too so that makes it nicer also.

Boiling a doz of the pullet eggs now. We like to use them on salads and the kids like them for after school snack. Now if only 1 of the ways I have read on how to get fresh eggs to peel easily would actually work!

I have 2 more chapters to read, listen to both lectures, and write reviews on for Grad school. I am finished with one class for the week. Tonight our oldest DD has basketball in Clearbrook. So I am picking up the girls in Oklee after school heading to Clearbrook. DH is picking up one son and taking him to a wrestling tournament and our oldest DS is going to a sleepover bday party. Then our eldest DD has a basketball game at LOW Saturday. I really begin to wonder how I fit it all in but it makes total sense on why our house is always a disaster!

I have a river bank they can be planted on and it would be good for the bank. You mentioned the June berries. I would add three to your order for my river bank. I need to go back to read what others you were considering.

They only offer 3 named ones so if I order 3 of each kind we could mix and match so we could both try them all . Should do well since there are native ones around .

Jerryse - I should double that order - three for the river bank in Big Lake and three for the property in Aitkin. Yep - I can so six - two of each. I gotta start whipping that Aitkin property into production now that the well and electric are in. I am sure he will build at least part of the structure this year so that he can stay in it to play next winter. I keep telling him it does not have to be done all the way. Just doable for now.
