What fun! Thank you for the photo bomb! They look so healthy.

Good Morning my Chickeners . . . . another nice day in paradise - that would be the banana belt . . . .

I love the penciling I see in your birds cluckies. I fall for the penciling in the birds. It is so cool!

I had to go out and about yesterday about 3:30 and knew I would not be returning until around 8:00. Nineteen birds responded to my calling with treats and went back into their run. It was Gilda that was not cooperative. Until I was pulling out of the driveway. Then she was sitting on top of the coop waiting to enter and I did not take the time to stop the car, get out, go to catch her and put her in her home. It would have to wait until I returned home.

When I got home I grabbed the flashlite - this is the time to lock the girls down, make sure they have water and feed for in the morning so I do not have to rush out there right away in the a.m. No Gilda around. I truly thought she would have been laying on top of that coop roof. I began search. Finally found her in a nest box of the unused coop - the coop I will be making MY improvements to in a few weeks. She was one of the original hens that initially stayed in this coop when I first used it last Spring. There she was. She softly told me her story as I carried her to the flock. As I have said before - Gilda arrived with Tom Hanks - both are BR's. Tom is living eleswhere and Gilda used to drive me bonkers with her talk - talk - talk. Now she has fast become one of the favored ones. She is along-term resident as well as my other heritage breeds. I think of them as permanent and not just egg layers.

Good morning everyone!
Just got back from church and I'm waiting for the bacon to get done so I can finally have some breakfast before heading out.

Busy week here getting the 3 new cochins and the 43 chicks. They Should all arrive between Tuesday and Thursday.
Track starts on the 27 so I've got to start running so I can at least have a 2 mile in the bag before it starts.

I feel like Morticia was aptly named.....is it just me....or does she kind of look grumpy in all her photos? But she is a beaut!!!!

Ralphie, I suspect part of the issue with Ed is that he has received to much cuddling from a Chicken Wrangler who shall not be named by me !! The poor guy thinks that he is nothing more than an ornamental lap chicken ?

Ed is not cuddled, he does not really care for me. He will let me hold him if he is caught fairly, Which means in along landing net or in a cage where he cannot get away.

These last few days of warm weather has allowed me to have the doors on the pole barn open. Ed has used the open doors as a chance to stalk other hens. I know he stalked an EE to the point he could finish the stalk, in true stalker fashion. I think Ed just does not like PC girls. He is one of those roosters that refuse to mate with his own breed.

It would be cool to have an Ed lapper, but he is really huge for a lapper.

That said, I know of a 13 year old girl that would like nothing more than to make Ed into a full time lapper....(for the record she is not related to me) Anyone know who this might be????

Who me? For the record book. The conversation home was...."Mom you are an embarrassment to all chickens. How could you not know that was a pc roo?"

Revenge was sweet this morning, "daughter you are an embarrassment to hatching....look there are 3 buffies and I only candles 2 bo eggs." "Oh yeah I forgot to mark one of the buffies eggs."
