Surviving Minnesota!

Is it too early to remove the plastic tarp from around the run for my city hens? I'm itching to get in there and do a full scrub down but want to air it out sufficiently too. It would also give them a better view of the yard when they're in their run. #NosyQuads
Here is our princess peach... One of the pampered beauties

No it's not too early, I removed the plastic from mine yesterday and I'm north a couple hours. I do have a solid roof though but I think it's ok either way now.

My project pullets have initiated laying and have not produced the egg color I was attempting to develop. Some on here may recall that I was using a combination of Black Copper Marans, Ameraucana and EE to develop a line of hens that would lay a Purple egg. This has failed as most of the pullets are laying eggs which are a shade of Lavender. This is so far off from goal that I have butchered all the pullets and will likely go on to using some combination of Ameraucana and EE to produce Lime Green eggs. Wish me luck!!

I have a mixed hen that lays a slate looking egg. Coolest color ever. I can only see that she has RIR and Ameraucana in her. Maybe it's a very light olive and my eyes are getting old? Lol! What did you end up breeding for that lavender egg?

Plastic is coming off today! It'll be so nice to get everything aired out. It's so dusty. And my duck coop/run does not smell amazing. I hope everyone has a beautiful day! Pet a chicken, drink a beer, and get some vitamin D.

Well got back from the swap in wabasha.. nothing I HAD to have. Got the stink eye from a few people because I asked if any one knew where I could get some bbs orps. Seems they labeled me as the high class lady. Psh I was wearing ripped up jeans and crappy old converse. Lots of Asians there buying every rooster they could get their hands on but not hens. Also didn't have any chicks for sale which made me sad.

Our calico house cats water broke at about 9 this morning. She had her first kitten about half an hour ago. I have not checked since

Anybody know how Coffee is doing? We haven't seen her lately over on the turkey thread.

Jerry....the weather here has been gorgeous. Low 70's and not much humidity....yet. My blueberries have set fruit already.

Saw my first butterfly of the season today . Just a white cabbage butterfly . Four more snakes . Ramps and some small flowers are up in the woods . 2 plum trees blooming . Every day more signs of spring . Morel finds about a hour south of me .
