Surviving Minnesota!

If you want eggs don't rescue any birds. They give them a hormonal shot that causes the hens to stop laying because they don't want the birds to go to a home where they are only wanted for laying purposes.

Since Ed won't stop asking for more baby pics I figure I would make him happy and post some.

Yes, speckled Sussex are lovely, just beautiful! And no frost bite issues. Also would suggest buckeye and easter Eggers for the same reason. I won't get an orp again, lovely as they are, due to frostbite. My orp lost a large part of her lovely big comb the first year. It was very painful to watch. :(

Ralphie do you have a photo of your Sussex :)

Good Morning!!

Do I have pictures of my Speckled Sussex???? Really, you needed to ask? I have more of them than my Grandkids...

The hens have never had a frostbite problem the rooster get hit hard.. Every year the white area becomes larger and larger on the birds. The bottom picture best shows the look I am after. Even though the black band between the bay and the white is a little wide on this hen. This is Queen Lizzie so she can pull off the wide black stries better than most girls would.

I think you should consider Doms also, While Holm's pushes those loser Buckeyes of his, I think the Dom is the way to go. No frost issues at all...

Morning . Rain near here . It might miss me . So probably cloudy warm day .

Yucky day here, cloudy but no rain. That is holding off until tomorrow when I want to load chicks.

Not that it matters, this stupid headache has me nearly incapacitated. Judy talked to one of the docs at work yesterday and she said it could be months before it goes away. Her supervisor had a concussion and was off work for 3 months and needed speech therapy before she was done with it.

Ok, no more whining, I have things to try and do,,

Any Mushrooms Jerry? I see on the map your area has them now.

I have not found any yet . My spots are usually later . It is close . Lots of reports close .

Ralphie...is that rooster Cuddles? Your SS look good.

Harriet-Hens, having lived with Speckled Sussex for almost 10 years, I highly recommend them. They have always been sweethearts. However, if you REALLY want a great pet.....consider a TURKEY! Yes....a turkey or three!! Nothing sweeter than a lap turkey!
