Surviving Minnesota!

Hello everyone! Got a couple of pics today....let the momma's out of the cage for a bit to stretch their legs. A few of the flock came to visit and didn't seem to mind the chicks at all. It was so dreary my most of my pics did not turn out in the dark coop but I did manage to get a shot of 9 of the chicks complete with my little Silver Cochin I found cold and lifeless the other day, who is alive and well, eating and drinking without issue (in the middle of the first pic)

And I miscounted big time on the chicks...I only have 11. There are still 7 eggs under the second broody waiting to hatch. I witnessed the switch again as well...both broodies came out to eat and stretch and then broody #1 went and sat on the 7 remaining eggs?...they are sharing ALL duties! But they are also sharing the same nest box now. I'm thinking because it's easier to be with the chicks?

Oh and here is a pic of the ONLY chick with a yellow beak! All the others have black beaks.

Having no luck looking up juneberry names . I think north line was the one discovered near beaver lodge Canada . IDK Then maybe a smokey and a Pembina . I lost track of what she has . Anyway really busy .

I will be picking up plants on Friday, April 28th. Maybe, according to update sent to me, Thiessen and Northline and the Evan's Cherries may be all that is available. Please determine IF you still want any of the june berry plants, which ones, knowing that IF any of the others are available I will get them first. Let me know by Friday morning.

I think I am down 8 Pollacks from this morning. Some body bought 6, I warned them they were stupid...

In the freezing rain the three were wandering aimlessly. I managed to get them in a net, but two escaped, one ran east into the woods, the rooster was running across the garden headed west towards lvies into the woods. It was near dark. I doubt they will be back, I doubt even more I will miss them.

Morning all. Sleet, freeziing rain cold nasty stuff.

The latch on the run was frozen, I had to whack it hard to open it. Then I was afraid I'd get frozen inside and I was without my phone. But I was able to get out.
Course the bird bath heater has been put away for the year so hope it doesn't stay this cold all day.

The Toads are doing just great and I am pretty sure the EE is a hen. No pink going on in the comb like the other boys of her age and if you try the old wives tale how gently hold them by the neck so they hang she pulls her feet up instead of letting the hang down. This makes me very excited! She is very skittish and takes a lot longer than others to calm down when I pick her up. While she has a lot of her mom's marking she has way more red and the feathers on her shoulders and top of her wings are almost solid red. That is the buckeye I am sure.

Awesome! You would know by now if it was a cockerel. I should get pics of the young Buck I have inside right now. I knew he was a cockerel since 2 weeks. They grow tree trunks for legs in no time! I hope she keeps some of the lacing! I am sure she will. It might be a little light but still pretty.
