Surviving Minnesota!

BC is this your dog ?
Oh I wish Jerry! Pretty golden too. Freezing rain here too. My favorite. Threw scratch in the run today. De pooped the coop this morning as I'm guessing the birds may not venture too far today. Both water founts frozen so had to run warm tap water. Restocked feed in the coop. ( it had been a while since I had to restock fed in there. Love free ranging!

I think I am down 8 Pollacks from this morning. Some body bought 6, I warned them they were stupid...

In the freezing rain the three were wandering aimlessly. I managed to get them in a net, but two escaped, one ran east into the woods, the rooster was running across the garden headed west towards lvies into the woods. It was near dark. I doubt they will be back, I doubt even more I will miss them.

Good Morning Ralphie - IF they or it show up around here I will let you know right away. What a good day to stay indoors and work. So I probably won't see any pollacks today. I know you made someone happy when they got those birds. We LOL last night when my friend picked up eggs and she told me.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . we need the rain and I need the time indoors so I am not lamenting the rain. But I will complain about the cold that is arriving. Its the weather and I have no control (darn!) and so must organize my day accordingly. Ho hum m m m m.

Jerry - BC and I are conversing and you will get your plant according to our conclusions about timing and picking up and mojoitos etc. Just kidding about the mojitos. How does one spell that drink? It doesn't like how I do it so I will switch it to Big Gingers! That works too.

Gotta go make coffee. Its the most important item on my list of to do for right now.

Morning ....just another beautiful summer day here in Finland

the ice is already about 1/4" thick on everything..... chickens didn't want to set foot out from under the barn awning and I had to chip the tarp off the round bale so I could feed the horses....wouldn't bother me at all except then I had to go to work...I love my job...I love my job...I love my job (no I don't - I lied)

Good day to stay in and sew all my little DIY pots for my seedlings....I am trying the pots made from landscape fabric...the idea is a healthier plant because the roots receive air through the fabric? they are reusable, easy to store when not in use and easier on the environment... we will see if it works. It's a lot of sewing up front but now I don't have to decide which seedlings to thin and throw away. I can put all the extras in these pots and sell them at our farmers market here that starts in June

I have to say we had a nice summer this year, it came a little earlier than expected but it was nice none the less.

I suppose I should be getting my Ice House in order for a little fishing on the opener.

The Morel season was extremely short, I did not find any yesterday.

I did turn my furnace back on it seems to be running great this season.

Skin of ice every where. A deer nearly lost it's hind quarter this morning. I was on the dirt township road though...going slow to avoid the rain puddle/holes cuorderoy whatever you call a road with holes that needs grading. Out she shot in front of me. Glad I wasn't on the highway.

I don't want to be at work. I want to be on the couch with the fireplace on and knitting. Sadie Mae napping next to me.

My good friend who has the classroom hatch now has a broody silkie. So will be taking over 3 Welsummer eggs tonight from Junior and Patsy.

I love broodies.

Siggie. I'm dying with all the chick and broody pics. Keep 'em coming. We'll all be out of ovations but that's okay.

My great grandma always told me life goes quicker as we age but I didn't know it would go this quick until now!

Isn't the Rhubarb looking great? :gig :he

ETA I probably should have buried it in straw and covered it with a blanket and tarp...
