What did you hatch? Cute little things!

I wound up with 2 broody Blue Cochin hens this spring who are currently sharing the responsibilities of 11 chicks while taking turns sitting on the last 6 eggs!

I am a newbie so I wasn't expecting or prepared for broodies and so did not have them separated and in their own area which resulted in having 20 eggs that are staggered hatches. My oldest chicks were hatched on April 12th and the youngest (I lost one yesterday) are from a couple of days ago.

The majority are Barred Rock/Blue Cochin crosses (All with fuzzy feet!) but I do have 4 true Blue Cochins in there. No Wyandottes though

I wasn't really expecting any because I never saw either rooster trying to mount them?

I had this little one hatch out last night. I've never seen this before. Any thoughts? I'm going to bring some Lidocaine (with epi for bleeding) and a scalpel home from work and separate them. Most of it is webbing. Almost like a duck. The end of each toe has a nail, but those are joined as well. That's more my concern.

I think a chicken buffet seems reasonable for the wedding. Chicken alfredo, fried chicken, roasted chicken, chicken wings, buffalo chicken dip, flat bread chicken bacon ranch pizza, and breaded chicken breasts.

Who is paying?

Chicken wild rice.....chicken gumbo...

Last night we shop vac 'ed 31 5-gallon buckets of water out of our in floor basement pvc duct work. Water table is high and our house has shifted and we have a break in the line for seepage. 2 years ago we hauled out about 300 gallons. We're at 153 gallons this year. We are also less freaked out because we know what to do. But there's some new humidity in our house. Lol. And when the heater pushes air through there's pinging sounds in the duct work from water pushing around.

Holy cow? Poor thing...won't it survive if you leave them that way or will the others pick on him? If the nails are also joined as one, won't there be blood vessels going through there? Well I wish you luck with this little guy

@Siggie , cochin makes the best crosses! I look forward to seeing how those barred rock crosses grow out.

Cool, I know my Cochins are very sweet even my rooster is very respectful of my "personal space" LOL! I originally got them because they were pretty (and there cold hardiness) and their possibility to go broody....and now I have two broodies! Never thought they would go broody in their first year but what do I know...

It will be interesting to see how they feather out and what kind of comb they will have, we already know they will all have feathered feet!...my Barred Rocks have larger combs that were subject to frostbite this past winter but the Cochins combs were much smaller and suffered no such fate....

I am so glad to see you jump on the "Let's marry off Holm's boat".....

If we left it to him I would not be alive for the party, he is moving so slow himself...
