Surviving Minnesota!

I agree, with this, BUT I would never let that chick see adulthood and even get a chance to breed.....
I always agree with not breeding further if there's problems with body conformation in any way. I get that. But if you want to give the bird a chance to give you eggs or a meal for your pot and fix a simple thing so that feet work for foraging and taking money off the feed bill and in the process of creating a less cruel life for that life span....then I'm for extra efforts.

I don't disagree with either of you. I was bummed to see the toes because I was hoping to get a nice breeding rooster or at least a starting point. If it ends up being a boy, he'll go over the chicken rainbow bridge and into a chicken pot pie. If it's a female, I'll keep her for eggs. Assuming she can live a good life. These are the Black Copper Marans eggs I got on ebay. His stock looked good and he sent me extra pictures, but you don't always know. This was hopefully a fluke. A few more chicks are hatching and they look good so far....

You're ruining a good party Jerry!

Yeah, Jerry! Stop. We have big plans for Holm!

Little chicken nuggets! Why are cornish X so much more "curious" (stupidly friendly) than other chicks? I can barely do chores without potentially squishing at least 20 at time who seem to think I am a tasty snack....

Cool picture! How many did you get?

Anybody want to see surgery pictures? It's not gruesome, but I don't want to disrespect anyone.
