@Bogtown Chick I hope your silvia gets better. How old is she?
Fun stuff, so my daughter did that ancestry dna test. We've always thought my mom was 100 percent german, and my dad 100 percent swede. Well it came back she is 54 percent swede, and only 5 percent german. Well if she is only 5 percent german, my mom can't be 100 percent. What? I sent mine in tuesday, we'll see what it says... my daughter was also 14 percent eastern europe, 10 percent great Brittain, 5 percent irish, 7 percent iberian peninsula, I forget the rest. Very interesting stuff.
Sylvia is doing better. She is 5 years old. She's come out of the coop the last week or so but spends a lot of time there. Her head has cleaned up nicely. Flap not flapping and healing, although I think some more salve would be good.
My dad is 100% German but he's Plattdeutsch which is up by Scandinavia Denmark (northern Germany) the test is on DNA not nationality. So if you think of fisherman, sailors, tradesmen marrying into that area- there you have it. Nationality wise my sister and I know we are 1/2 German and 3/8 Norwegian 1/8 swede. But our DNA comes up 84% scandinavian. Northern Germany or the Plattdeutsch very infused by Scandinavia.[/QUOTE]
Good to hear about sylvia, poor girl. If she wants to come here to retire, she is welcome. We have no rooster.

So very sorry for the loss of your father in law. He sounds like a wonderful man. We lose more and more of our treasure every day.Good morning....sorry for the absence. Everyone has had a busy week! Ralphie Sorry to hear about your killing spree...and I can't bring myself to watch the Fisher attack either.
I tried to go through all the posts I missed but you guys are so chatty!!
We have been down in Southern WI all week, my father in law passed away.
I really wish I could find someone who would care for my animal family how I care for them. This is why I NEVER go anywhere. Nothing harmful to my animals but just little things that I do for them and then some things that could have potentially been harmful or bad.... They didn't take the food dishes out of the run at night...they didn't dump and replace their water every morning (I think they had the same water in their bowl from when I filled it early Monday morning-it was gross) The best one was them calling me the first night to tell me "well we FINALLY got them all herded in hope we didn't miss any!" Um...if you would have waited til about 8:45pm, you could have just walked up, closed the coop door and said goodnight?!? poor chickens... **...I'm so ungrateful...**
I will stop complaining...at least I was able to be there for support for my husband during this crappy time for him. His dad was a wonderful fun man. He wasn't feeling well so they took him to the doctor...they told him on a Thursday he had cancer and he died the following Wednesday. HE was 86 so he had a full life right up until the end, we should all be so lucky! He will be missed.
Ok, I'll go watch it then... could you post a new link, I'm last today.Siggie, Sorry for your families loss.
For those of you avoiding the fisher attack, he does not actually touch a chicken or get into the coop, it just shows how hard they try to get in. You really should watch it for the education value. There is no gore.
Wow wow wow Jerry, that is a marvelously huge project! Looks fantastic! Keep us updated! Some pics from the project .
