Surviving Minnesota!

Oh, and the houseboat was EXCELLENT! I am not sure I am able to withstand 3 nights of shenanigans though. I did survive and it was a fun time.

I came home to just 5 chicks. 3 CM and 2 RIR. I don't know what happened. MIA are 4 hatching eggs. I hope no one got them in their egg carton! When I am not home I never really know what happens. Then today I found the 3 CM chicks gone. Mom is still around but the chicks are gone. found one dead the other two are MIA. I think something is sneaking in the coop. Not sure how it is getting past the dogs but I do think it is time to set up the critter cams... I sure hope the RIR make it.

6 Turkey eggs are set to hatch in a couple days. I suppose I should set up their brooder. When are turkeys ready to go outside? 4 weeks also? I know nothing about raising turkeys, other than they are dumb and try to kill themselves all the time.

Look you what is growing by my run:)

Jerry I like that bird. I have one here I might try to make a pea comb legbar with, but I need to makea lot of thing right again..

I sure wish you had not fed my rose combed legbar to that coon....:lau I talked to a guy today that is in his 5th year on rose-comb legbars. The legbar club is actually planning on them being a legit legbar in the future, from what I can see.

Yes we have a 1.5 year old male Pyrenees. He is fixed. Not fixing a male will cause the running too. He does not run though. We own the sections of land all around us with in my husbands family so he has acres to wander if he wants but he is always in the yard. He will go out into the fields if he catches wind of something that shouldn't be there. He does bark an awful lot at night. Some nights we bring him into the garage just so we can sleep better. But you get used to it and it no longer wakes you up too. Regarding the hair. Yes, you HAVE to brush them through out the winter and definately in the spring to get out the winter hair. Our 5 dear children neglected this duty this winter/spring and so Today we completed Yeti's first Spring shave. Good thing it is already summer, too! He looks so FUNNY! It may just be borderline "dog abuse". LOL he doesn't seem bothered by it. He just doesn't know what to think of his tail because he has never seen it before!! Great dog though. Biggest teddy bear in the world and doesn't harm kittens or chickens. His best friend outside of Kepler our half lab/half Pyr elder dog is a cat. Kepler on the other hand with all that lab in him likes to run. We have the Petsafe wireless collar. Gives a 90' radius circle and all you do is plug it in and put the collar on. He hasn't ran since we put the collar on. He too guards the yard.

Can you PM their names? I have someone looking to replace their Pyr as both their girls are getting old and want a puppy to train in with the old gals.

I will get their name sent tomorrow. I can't quite remember what it was... If they don't have anybody there is a guy who breeds them but idk me well trained they are. He had one run away and kill one of our good friends sheep..

I guess your run can never move and you will have to fence in that area to protect those or risk the next 60 years in prison.... Do they still have chickens in Stillwater?

:lau
We usually leave this part unmowed... We do burn it in the spring... But it hasn't never been there before... There is two different plants... We also have a marsh full of Yellow Lady Slippers.

I have yellow ones in the swamp here but it has been a long time since I saw a white one.. I am thinking of looking for mushrooms this weekend. It will be my last chance before my surgery, and then I will be out for a few weeks. Maybe I will get lucky and stumble on a white lady slipper.

Ralphie good wishes on your surgery. I didn't realize...

Will this hinder a late summer mushroom hunt?!

No, it is a pretty minor surgery just will keep me down a couple weeks is all...

They are going up my nostrils to see if they can find any grey matter.....:lau

I have polyps blocking my sinuses and nasal passages is all.

I am more worried about falling behind a pair of Benton County kids in my chicken bathing than mushroom hunts I will miss... Losing would be traumatic to me....:hit

Best of luck on your mushroom hunt! Maybe white Lady Slippers are good luck :fl
