Surviving Minnesota!

Deny, deny, deny....

It is like SSS never change your story even if caught red handed!
So said bird owner would just continue to insist the witness needs glasses? Certainly an interesting possibility.

Oh, BTW, if you run into that theoretical bird owner, send him my way.... I want to show him PC pics.

Good Afternoon - conquering some gardening and having a good feeling of accomplishment.
MNChicMom - the things we do for our kids! How are you feelin today?
Ralphie - oh man - that would not be a good feeling with the suspicions you and Judy are thinking of your neighbor. However - it does make sense. When do you want my four hours of work I offered? Lets plan this Ralphie.
The dog still lives. I am sorry to say that I was quite abusive and I am confessing that I have never - ever experienced the feeling I was having toward this dog. I still won't look at him however the gardening is good therapy. Work it off and think it through. It sounds like a chippie and it is an unfortunate series of events in a very short (probably less than a minute and a half) time period. If only mama hen had backed up to tell her baby that she must walk on this side of the wall. If only I had blocked that path out for those chickies. If only I had put the waterer down that I was grabbing as I walked to get the chickie. Just a few seconds would have saved her. I am sure it was a pullet because of the wing feathers. The whole ordeal still makes me sick. Lesson learned.

MNchickmom - hope you're doing alright after your run-in with the hog. Your son sounds like a riot - not afraid to get into trouble for spouting a bit of humor. I suspect my 5 yr old is turning out that way as well.

Ralphie - here's to hoping your days keep getting better from here on out. Sorry to hear about your mom's issues.

We are in our new house, boxes everywhere. No internet service yet, hopefully this week. Man, the grass is so tall outside of the close yard- easily at chest height now. (Okay, I am short... but some of it is up to my head.) DH has tackled making some trails in it with a push mower!! There is a riding mower that got left behind, but needs some work to get going. Remains to be seen how soon we get a tractor or other heavy equipment to properly tackle the property.

We are all sleeping on mattresses on the floor, as new bed frames are needed all around. Our boxer dog likes to get a cozy spot for the night, so he will climb in the tiniest spot available in our bed if he is physically able to. Well, the other night, in the dead of night, there was a thunk. He had been on a tiny sliver of the bed between my legs and the edge, and he fell off and got sandwiched tight between the mattress/box spring and the wall, belly up. I had to wake DH to move the bed and let him loose. He was kicked out of the room after that, but he still tried to sneak back in. Our bed has been pushed up against the wall to prevent further incidents.

Show the bird. Can't tell you how many dogs I finished ( got their chasmpionships) that I promptly sexually altered & placed in a pet home.

Show the bird. Egg color is not a point to be considered as per SOP. Thus if you had a desire to develop a strain of this breed which lays a different color egg it is a nonfactor as relates to showing.
If the egg is purple I will take the bird off your hands, as it will help to develop consistency in my purple egg layers.

This neighbor of yours that may be exhibiting signs of forgetfulness is a source of some of your own genes. Does that part give you any concerns ?

It does not seem to me that simply leaving the gate open to the pen would result in that number of birds being gone without a trace ? Have you checked her freezer ?

Ivie, I believe that you may not be completely rational as relates to the dog. If he thought it to be some sort of varmint that killing would cause praise for, them it is logical that he would make a mistake.
If the dog has not been taught some command which is a signal to cease and desist all activity and sit or lay down, then it is not reasonable to expect he would understand randomly administered excited verbiage.
The dog may need to go for other reasons, but not for the one action ?

Got a text this AM for eggs. I let a dozen go and got this note from my egg customer. So sweet.
This evening I noted this red flower in my garden. It's a variant of purple coneflower. The color is amazing. I forgot about it to be honest. So I was happy for the surprise. Fun thing about getting old. You make new friends every day too. Lol. Ralphie does your mom need a roommate?!
