Surviving Minnesota!

Holm Speaking of Dual purpose and your desire to be a bachelor for the next 50-60 years...

appletini's are the perfect bird for a meal for one!!! Dual Purpose and practical!~
I'm not sure I will be a bachelor for my whole life lol. I don't want to get married as early as my parents did but one day lol.

I think Appletinis would be 2-3 meals for me lol... I'm not a big eater...

You're quite the salesman Ralphie I like Dual Purpose breeds (other than my Silkies).
Smart boy. The way that man talks, he could probably almost convince me to try guineas again. Think he was a used car salesman in a past life?

A teenager that isn't a big eater? Surely you jest.

I eat less than my 9 year old brother... I only eat 1-2 meals a day when I remember. I just forget about it sometimes...

I am glad I'm not the only one who forgets! I have to watch myself a lot during sports because of that. Although usually once a week for supper I eat a lot.

I was not able to go look at the neighbors grainery today, so I am hoping tomorrow. And moving it whenever it gets dry, if I like it

Crazy calico. This is the kitte we got July 2016. She got in so much trouble today! Crawling in cars and sleeping in them and wedging herself between the screen and door!

I have to say though I do love cats more then dogs. Right now I have 4 on my bed. My 11 year old cat by my left hip, the calicos 2 kittens snugglin each other by my right hip, and the calico by my feet

Good morning all! I survived fair week. However, I am sad to report that one of the toad boys did not. Our daughter pointed out the purple tint to his comb when we were putting him back in the coop. (Private cage) my response was give some electrolytes and he will be fine. Well by the time we finished cooping everyone he had passed. This death really hit me hard due to lack of sleep and the breeder entrusted me with 5 prized toad babies. Rip little guy!

OH NO TOAD ABUSE!!!

Some toads just do not have the heart to handle a lot of excitement. Was it the larger or smaller toad?

When you see a purple Comb you might as well process it. The meat is still good, even if there is a little liquid in the body cavity.

Toad roosters are much easier to come by than toad hens. I would have, being 3/4ths hilbilly living in the banana zone and all processed and eaten him if it was that fresh of a death. You knew right when it happened?

We call a fresh natural death like that, Sushi Grade Roadkill around here...

Do you need another? I have extra's. OJ wants parole. I have not decided his fate yet.

Also, I think Yoki needs a few girls.......I am sure the cost would be about the same as an ornery old PC cockerel that i really need for fall breeding......(was that too obvious a hint?)...

I am letting my oldest batch of turkey poults free range now. They are so sweet and well mannered. I hope they never join up with my old ones. They go to bed early, and follow me everywhere. The problem is I have them either in front, behind or along side me and the old ones on the otherside. I have a feeling they will join them soon.

After I drink enough coffee to keep me going, I plan to start my fencing. I ordered 40o ft of 1/2 hardware cloth from Amazon, I saved 10 cents a foot on it over Menards. It should be here today or tomorrow. I plan to get the toad fence and incorporate the guinea gulag into the main coop and run. I will have 4 runs hooked together for a large covered run or 4 breeding areas, in addition to the others I have.

I have been talking to Minnie about a spiky comb I have on one of my DOM's. I am not sure how it will be judged. She suggest I just take it and see what the judges say. I think I will. I have never seen a rose comb with such huge spikes.

The bird is a real decent bird other than the comb, as she said if they do points on the bird the comb is not that many points, but the comb is the first thing people notice too..

Here is it's picture:

Anyone else's chickens super excited about all the cicadas falling out of the trees? Since we now assume this guy is a roo he gets the "extra" name the kids picked out "Chickzilla" or "King Chickzilla" depending on their moods.
