Surviving Minnesota!

Elise. The mixing of the older wood on the new for the pop door. S-mart!!!! Good way to blend the woods! My favorite photo of the young ladies peeking out of their house. So curious and so scared. LOL. Funny birds. They are beautiful BTW. Did BIL doggie get a broom up his keester after the chicken raid? That's a good way to try to solve that problem. Saves the dog from lead poisoning and scares the crap out of them. Sadie...is leery of my broom when I decide to sweep the floor...I wonder why. Dogs will be your biggest predator issue along with aerials. Let the girls free range if you can even if it's just supervised. Happy healthy birds free range.

Was reading on tertiary Lyme disease (involving neuro symptoms) sometimes not the easiest disease to deal with. But Gosh in a way I hope it's that and we know what we're dealing with here. We're in a good state of medical professionals that know how to deal with this crap. I hope, I hope... He was upset last night but I think I had him laughing telling him about DH mowing down my week old White Pines I had planted a week before. And He didn't even have 'issues'. He laughed at that. Positivity. Positive vibes for dear Dad. Ralphie. We thought just the getting old thing too. I was even resigned to 'just my Dad getting Old' But his aging process is going faster in 3 months than I suspected it should. I hope yours is figured out as well. They say the Lyme is suppose to be more prolific this year. Makes sense...

BC I am happy to report improvement in my pains . Walking almost normal and not hurting when I first put weight on my knee . So stopping the statin , less work and a good bed have me on the mend . Cortisone shot on Sept. 5 . Plus I found muscle stretching exercises on youtube . Seems I have piriformis syndrome . Probably for years . Thought it was sciatica . The two are often confused and can both be present . Chiropractic helps . Got the clue when Gunnerson was always talking about relaxing that pelvis area muscle while treating me .

So the kids are naming (and ever renaming) the chickens based on their favorite movies and shows. The rooster was an extra so he gets his pick of random names ranging from Chikster, Chickzilla, and Pecker. The hen that was attacked so far is the smallest so that one is Chickaletta (from Paw Patrol). And right now there's one that cannot figure out the ramp up to the chicken door. All the others hop right up there and she goes under it, around it, looks on each side of the coop, and can't quite figure it out. So that's Hei hei (from Moana). The fourth hen is Kevin (from Up). I'm gonna say the one that's got it's head cocked in the upper right is Hei Hei but right now it's still hard to tell them apart. :) I might have to get some colored zip ties.

Jerry so glad you and Janet are home safe with Truck tranny, chicks in their bins, et. al. Time to get off the table and get home to the 'maters and berries, pears, and cukes. LOL. I don't blame you one bit. The lawn not being mowed for 3 weeks would have sent me bonkers in itself. Fall will be waiting for you up here along with 5 cockerels. Let me know if you decide against them. The striped lavender fellow is making a pest of himself and I'm starting to lean towards soup for him...but I will tell the girls to 'buck up' and move their legs faster- if he is still desirable for your pens in Illinois.

It is raining here as well. So you are not missing much at the cabin-to-be.
When you are up hopefully there will be some lobster mushrooms growing or something.

In the Fifth Wheel, DH and I get the queen sized bed as well. It sleeps better than the current King size we have in our house! So slept very well on our camping trip. DD gets the table in the RV and even she complained about sleeping on that. Young whipper snapper that she is. DS gets the couch that moves into a flat bed. That one's not too bad to sleep on.

Jerry: Chiropractors can tell you stuff that you never thought of before. I have one that does that too. She told me to pay attention to how I was sitting at my desk at work. Since I've been doing that my hip tendon has improved. "Paying attention" to your body mechanics is HUGE.

LOL, I was wondering if a little one was a Paw Patrol fan. Love the pic with the chicken suit - maybe I'll have to look for a couple of those next year.

DH put a game cam up at the bottom of the hill below our house for about a week. We got the pictures off it yesterday - 4 deer together, a red fox, and some other mammal that was partially obscured (couldn't see tail shape at all)- beaver, woodchuck, something with roughly that shaped body that is out at midnight. The fox was out about 8 pm, so I guess that's a good thing to know about when getting chickens. I mean we should assume those type of predators are out and about, but knowing for sure they're on your property is another thing.

Almost forgot to add the new indoor animal we're getting Labor Day weekend:
