You don't have tp spray her. Just dump a bucket of ice water over her head. You will need to d it several days, these Prima Dona's refuse to have their desires thwarted easily. The one time she was waterboarded like this she spent 5-6 days in the cage, I let her out and found her hogging a nest just a few hours later. 3 more days stopped the nonsense.
i used a 5g bucket of water and just held them in it for a few, and made sure they got nice n soaked right before roost time and placed her on the roost

Maybe I could dunk her it seems a little less harsh.
and much easier!

Does anyone here think they could make one of these?

I have an old girl that really needs one, she is so large she sways when she walks.
ask @Auroradream26

Ralph...Aurora makes chicken saddles...bet she could do a bra.
Ditto!!

i LOVE this picture!!!! and your coop! i am just a little bit jealous

So the kids are naming (and ever renaming) the chickens based on their favorite movies and shows. The rooster was an extra so he gets his pick of random names ranging from Chikster, Chickzilla, and Pecker. The hen that was attacked so far is the smallest so that one is Chickaletta (from Paw Patrol). And right now there's one that cannot figure out the ramp up to the chicken door. All the others hop right up there and she goes under it, around it, looks on each side of the coop, and can't quite figure it out. So that's Hei hei (from Moana). The fourth hen is Kevin (from Up). I'm gonna say the one that's got it's head cocked in the upper right is Hei Hei but right now it's still hard to tell them apart. :) I might have to get some colored zip ties.
love chickaletta, lol, my 5yo names our birds, always something fun!

I might have some baby Chipmunk elimination critters, if we can find where she hid them, they are of the Holm lines.
awwww any pictures??

Pictures?

We have to find them first. I am betting they will be a tad wild, I think they are about 2 weeks old and we have never seen them yet.

then there will be pics??

If we ever find them. They might be flashes of fur going fast, that-a-way.

I just had a toad doing the chicken. I turned off the fencer opened the runs I wanted outside, the toads. I then went in an flipped the fencer back on, a toad was tangled in the fence. I saw it flopping and turned it off until it cleared the fencer. All is ok now.

my maters are getting big, very green (these are the beefsteaks)
but for some reason every time i get t nice looking cherry tomato it disappears instantly
and my 5yo has informed me that she likes tomatos now

One of the Blue Ameraucana's is broody. She might need a bath. She's been setting since last week. It might be harder to break her. She's pretty ferocious. I might bleed on this one. Dixie my buff silkie was just growly. Miss Kitty, the Blue Ameraucana is a little more T-Rex. So a bath of water is probably in order for her. Maybe put her in the garage with the lights too.

To our new followers and soon to be chicken owners. Read, Read, Read. Coop first. Chicks after. And know that after you've read...chickening will still humble you. Be prepared for that. BYC is full of knowledgable people and people that 'think' they know it all. So read several threads of a topic to get the feel for what is right and what is a load of chicken manure. Also understand that what works in West Virginia and Florida does not work here in Minnesota as far as weather and wintering chickens.

I only use litter in my run. Which is only used when the snow is on the ground. One winter it was for 6 months straight. Another winter was 2 months. Pine shavings in the coop. We have clay/loam here. The run is covered...so I think there is some shading and rotting going on there. But it's so thick that it's hard to see. I will need fresh this year though. Just for comfort...cleanliness feeling.. that I need. LOL.

Smucked a fawn last night with the car. Braked hard and almost missed her but Pushed my headlight in a little. Little crack in the bumper. Dang things. Feel bad...but I just got that car... grrr.

Backstrap for supper ? Just like veal I bet . BC I never weeded the garden at the lake . See what a difference fertility and heat makes . I did fertilize some at the lake . Hey I spotted some lush growing grass on that mound in your yard . It was freshly mowed . Future garden spot ? :lau
