I lost a Dom Pullet last night. She was inside in my breeder pen. A nice bird except for no point on the comb.
About 2 days ago she grew a huge "lump" on the side of her neck, that made her look like the hunchback in Frankenstein movies. It was semi-hard. It did not seem to affect her. I thought it might be a crop issue but it was not filled with grain/feed.
When I was taking care of them last night I noticed it had "popped" there was huge amounts of blood on her neck, and the lump was smaller.
The amount of blood and the way it popped made putting Blu-kote on it with the dabber impossible. I do not have spray cans as they always plug up and the blue ends up on me.
I thought about moving her to a cage by herself. However, cages are in short supply here and the other 2 pullets with her were not bothering her. She was picking at the lump herself.
I went out about an hour and half later and she was dead. The other birds had pecked at it then. (I tell you never pass out in front of your birds or they will eat you). I have a couple pictures of the lump after they opened it a little.
These are not for the weak of heart. I have no idea how to make them "hidden" so you do have to look at them.
The picture is different than it looked in real life. The "tumor" was made up of little growths or tissue that reminded me of the way a wart looks on a human....I know warts after all I am married to the WWD!!!..... I cannot see that in the picture. The first picture shows this best.

This is the Pullet I pulled because I thought she had a telescoping Comb which ended up being a cut comb that has healed.
She is not showing her full U back here, but I love her head. This would be my second bird I show in this division if I show her. It is between her and another bird. Thoughts on this one and remember you cannot hurt my feelings by telling me she is a pile of poo.
I keep going back and forth with her. She is the only bird I might show I have not bathed yet. She has had no make-up or spa treatments yet.
