Surviving Minnesota!

Kill the mushroom..but it could be too late now.if it is fruiting...the shroom, not the tree...

I am guessing. EJB or Jerry will know. I have faith in those old guys.

If the fungus has already started to develop it is definitely a bad sign. I know it is tempting to try to salvage the tree, but it may be a futile effort. Some varieties are more susceptible to cedar apple rust than others. Do you know the variety name in this case Erli ?
If it were my tree I would likely cut it to the ground and burn it up completely before spring arrives ? It is difficult to tell for certain without inspecting the tree.

A side note here. Many years ago while I was still traditionally employed I had a salesman who worked for me who one day said, Ed I have this apple tree that seems to be dying will you look at it and make a suggestion ? I went to his house and looked at the tree. It was near his deck at the back of his house. I said to him the problem is your Black Lab is using it as his marking post to the extent that the soil is being acidified to the degree that the tree can not survive.
Many times there is a simple overlooked problem.

I forgot to say good morning. I hope all my fans aren't heart broken by this.

If the weather the last couple days is the result of Global warming, I would like to sign the petition to keep it.

However, looking ahead it appears this is going to end,,,,,,,,soon.

I have a young SS pullet that I am going to move to the breeding pen! Wow is she nice, She was too young to take to Hutch, but she would have trounced the BB of breed. (which of course was her sister)

I think I am going to move some lesser quality birds out of the breeding pens into the layer coop. I am thinking just 3-4 good breeders and the rest to the loser pen....I have renamed the loser pen to the Canooks. No, idea why, it just came to me as a flash of brilliance.

In Other news learned the real Eileen will be in the Cities in May for a concert. I want front row tickets and a backstage pass for Christmas. If anyone is interested. I promise to not abuse my pass and get closer than 500 picometers from her...

I think, Judy is worried she will run off with me. I am not so worried. If it happens I will go with the flow and miss you 'little poor people" that I was once a part of.
:lau
I am totally heart broken.
No back stage pass for you just because you forgot to say good morning yesterday.

If it is an consolation I considered naming it the "Show Me" pen.

This will be a true test of the education system for some...the vague reference here to fake Eileen.
I caught it :yano dunce hat for me today!
:thumbsup

If my memory serves me correctly just 2 or 3 years ago there was a wide spread disease that affected many apple trees in Central MN. It starts by the bark peeling off then progressively kills off limb after limb of the tree itself. I don't recall the name but it was a widespread disease.
