Surviving Minnesota!

I didn't have any frozen waterers today! And my Silkies are laying!

I collected my last eggs for hatching today.

Judy is happy she can sell eggs again. I had a couple frozen eggs today.

I moved my youngest Speckled Sussex pullet from the layer coop to the breeding pen. I wish she had been there earlier, but I could not trust her eggs to be pure. She is a beauty.

She might not be the friendliest SS ever though. I picked her up off the floor in the main coop fine. When I started carrying her she was cooing and clucking like she was enjoying the trip....Then about 30 yards from the pole barn she clamped down hard on my glove. I moved my hand away from her and she pecked hard at while cooing......I am thinking I might have misread the meaning of her coo.

I planted eggs today. `176 of them.

Hopefully this will be my only batch of show birds for the year.
If they do not turn out well I will plant another batch around Mid January.

I candled the turkey eggs that have been in for a week, One for sure starter..The rest I can not tell, but they do not look promising. I will candle again in 18 days.

I have toads, PC, SS, Doms and Legbars (white and cream) in the incubator. No doubt my next year champ is in one of those eggs.....Unless some fast talking shyster type used cat saleman shows up and talks me out of the good ones.....

If this batch does not have a decent hatch, I will plant eggs around mid January again.

In addition to the 176 I planted I had an even dozen of eggs that must have froze and cracked. I worry some of these got too cold and killed the eggs. 18 days and I will know.

Didn't you know you can't trust a salesman? Especially a catsalesman? They can talk you into or out of just about anything!

I've been thinking about buying the stuff to make fudge! Maybe this weekend. Becky I'm guessing you make delicious fudge! Mmmm.

I mailed off lefse that my MIL made to her great neice. DH's cousin. She made a little comment on a social media post and I thought I'd surprise her with a little Norwegian goodness.

Did any lefse head towards my place?

I love homemade lefse.

Shoot Ralphie . I don’t know your address. Also I feel the supply is looking worse for the wear due to Illinois mailing to cousin and of course the snacking around here.

She had a dry crumbly batch last year. This year it’s pretty good. She’s got it down now.
