Surviving Minnesota!

Speaking of those...

Remember Heidi?

The little chick that hatched a week early last spring...I was sure was a pullet....and turned into rooster after I gave it alone with a Turkey to a Irag war vet with PTSD...

He died last week. She came out and he was dead on the ground. BUT the turkey is sitting on eggs that might have his babies in them.....Mutts as she had no other appletiniis.

What cha all doing? Quiet Minnesotans?

The boys must be taking Thursday off....

It's the holiday season too. Busy busy.

I made chocolate fudge the other day and took packages of it to the post office today to send to my sibs for Christmas. I have to say I make seriously delicious fudge. :drool

Can't wait for my package to arrive...

I don't think the appletiniis have knobby heads like silkies. But I could be wrong. I have none to look at anymore..I know their crests grow backwards (towards the front) when compared to legbars.

Doubt they have knobby heads, takes a pretty large crest to have that.

Ralphie, I'm sure you are considered part of the extended family !?

The Appenzeler Spitzhauben does not have a knob on their head. At least none of them that I have seen.
Did I tell you all that we got over 6" of snow yesterday and more today. My chickens don't care. They come out to free range anyway, but they are not finding much to eat.

My blue eared hen.. I have a bunch of birds to name. Anyone have a good theme?
