Surviving Minnesota!

Well the cats decided they wanted to open theirs and the dog thought they were going to take hers and we almost had a fight! so I had to pick up all the pet gifts and put them away. Bad kids. We never have fights between the cats and dog, so it was weird.

I have went CHEAP... I buy the Calf Concentrate at Fleetfarm. It has the vitamins and minerals the birds need as best as I can tell.

It is 32 % protein, I mix it with 4 parts of cracked corn. That gives me a final protein of around 13.8. And it costs $26 for 250# of mixed feed. or $5.25 a 50 pound bag.

I do feed free will grit and oyster shells free will on the side.

Hello, Ralph the concentrate you use from fleet is this it?

Good morning and Merry Christmas to all.
I sometimes think that what people are feeding to their birds is more a factor of the owner feeling good about what is fed as opposed to what the birds need or want ? Birds in the wild live on a diet which is simple in composition and without a lot of special supplements and additives, and those birds seem to be the picture of health.
For a good long time I fed only Game Bird Breeder to birds which were my brood stock.
I have switched to a diet of Egg Maker Pellets and whole grains (wheat and corn), and the birds seem to perform just as well.
Humans many times endeavor to make things more difficult and complicated than is necessary ?
You were definitely first Holms.
