Surviving Minnesota!

Old coop maybe not built as tight as this one?

I think there is something to be said about old barns and coops. Dry wood? Idk...
It has 40ish square feet of ventilation right now... old one did have more but they were all covered for winter due to the distinctly not-airtight build of the coop. I don't have the windows covered on this one... yet, anyway.

My old coop was about 50 years old.

This morning was in the double digit negatives again but the birds had very little frost on them. My weather thing said the relative humidity was 10% lower than yesterday.

Aha.

Definitely more RH the days before. Did u guys see Erie, PA. 6 feet of lake effect snow! My God. I would move personally.
I don't like getting much more than a metre. It's hard to even walk through it then.

Last year when it got over a metre I had to duck tape my snowpants to my boots so they wouldn't get pulled up. Brrr.

:gigNever thought I would hear of a place where MN people would move from due to snow and cold .
I, for one, think a metre is more than enough to shovel. Two or three metres—NOPE.

The year of the Halloween storm was nasty for those of us in the Duluth area... I ended up hiring a payloader to move snow that year. I think we had like 11 ft on the ground by spring.
