Surviving Minnesota!

Today DH took the teenagers to Iowa to watch our cousin play college ball in mason city. Soooo... I’ve been making my favorite dishes. Watching the tv I want to watch. Fixed and reupholstered a dining room chair. Drank some wine...as it called for some in my supper recipe.

I cleaned house today. And I cleaned the coop. It needed it. As I was cleaning it out Patsy Kline the welsummer would come in inspect my work. See that the favorite nest was still without straw. She talked to me quite a bit as I swept and dusted and chipped away ice/shavings bergs from spilled founts. I got the new shavings in. Removable roosts back, etc. then sat down on the coop floor in my carharts and called her in and chooked the favorite nest with new straw.

I think I will always be enchanted and love our hobby in common. Just sitting there watching that bird bowl out a nest then throw choice straws over her back. Stand and push out that glorious terra cotta colored egg. The smell of the fresh pine shavings.
She walked right out. She didn’t dwell too long. And I walked up to the house with her beautiful gift.

I’m tired up late for me. I went to a mushroom class today. It could have been longer, I wanted to hear/ learn more but it was interesting and fun. Then was at friends for dinner of appetizers.

Went to my little buddy's pine wood derby today. He won first in his troop and a medal for most patriotic :celebrate
It was pretty fun:)

I think it is b s the way they notched the front of the car but. . . they let it go.

Morning.

I want to hear more about the mushroom class, Erlibrd.

My eyes are not working correctly today. When I look at the thermometer, I see temp more suitable for Duluth in the winter than here in the Banana belt this time of spring.

I was thinking of mushroom hunting this weekend.

Erli: what were the subjects of the mushroom class? I’ve found a Foraging facebook site most helpful. The gentleman forager. He’ll take photos of poisonous ones too. But I scan the photos of what’s in his baskets. And after a few views of his albums you know which is which. I also recommend a foraging mushroom book. You might be able to check out Ralphies library. Lol.

It is a bit nippy today.

Birds are out and have 4 friends coming over for coffee. Best get cracking.

Good morning.

The class was in Pine River, they do a 'Back to Basics' thing every year I guess. This was the first I'd heard about it. So I went to the intro to mushroom cultivation, a couple friends and myself are going to do a bunch of shitake plugs in logs. The speaker Matt Ratliff has a fungi farm in the Fort Ripley area. He talked some about foraging but like I said it would've been nice if the class was longer and he could cover more in depth.
