Not wanting to go to Texas is entirely normal and a sign of a healthy mind.Preparing for my trip coming up. I hate leaving my birds in other people's care. Am I becoming some kind of whack job? Old and settled in my ways? Crazy chicken lady? I almost do not even want to go to Texas because of my chickens! Ha! I'm so weird.
Looks like him too, don't you think?Ralphie: I love that 'whoop-dee-doo' looking frog waving avatar. Some of your responses just go perfect with the avatar too.![]()
If it makes you happy I guess I will go to Texas for you... I have some bird people to meet down there anyways...Well it is March 22nd folks. It is snowing. I have 1 foot of snow in my front yard. I've heard that Lake of the woods still needs auger extensions --over 4 feet of ice. Opening Walleye going to be like spring ice perch fishing? Ridiculous. I have not looked at extended forcasts...

Anyways I had more hardware cloth to put up on a small corner of the run. Just a refortification. I moved a predator sensor light (two blinking red lights that look like eyes apparently.) I have talked to the chicken keeper for the birds. My friend Shannon. Instead of twice a day to come over. Open pop door/close pop door. I told her I would leave it open all the time as the run is secured. Save her the hassle of two trips out.
I'll clean out the bedding tomorrow night.
Grabbed and inspected a sampling of hens. Hattie (Blue Ameraucana), Lucy (BLRW), and Patsy Kline (Welsummer). Looked them over. Hattie has one bumble foot so I might address that tonight for her. I will look over the other five tonight too now. Other than that all the hens are in great shape. No lice, No mites. Always nice to get through winter without that hullabaloo. Feathers looking great on the backs. --Great rooster.
Junior has one black tip on his comb yet to fall off. Other wise his wattle eschars are off now. He shortened way up this winter. His feet are rough. He's going to look like my Grandpa Art -- two fingers missing from a Farm accident. He was limping the other day so I think some are really starting to wall off and they'll be some nubbins soon. Little bit worried about him. But no limping yesterday. So a better day for him . Maybe it was the barometric pressure.
Fluffy butts are in style.I wished I looked like my avatar...
Skinnier legs would be welcome. I do have a fluffy butt though....
