Sounds like a plan. I added a new roo so waiting for them to adjust to him, right now I only have three fertile eggs.( I did test fertility) In December I lost the old roo so been growing his replacement out, plus the hens went through molting and broodiness. Gah. I guess they have to get it ALL out of the way before consistent laying again lol.

They usually lay like clockwork.

Or I should say what do you guys use when the local vet says oh your not a client we arnt accepting new patients and I cant tell you anything because I have to do a farm visit blah blah. Basically the go to H E double hockey sticks routine.

To be fair, if you're looking for any vet script stuff like CTC, they're right. Rules changes a couple of years ago.

Dang dang dang... grr. Rrrrr doesnt help that the old vet is a snoop on the farms. And to be honest I wasnt really looking for a vet script.just a run of the mill wormer.

Speaking of snoops the old man that owns the land next to mine keeps driving by on his side by side looking at my property and counting the chickens. We have had a bad relationship forever. Wife is nice... Tom... is an ass. No eggs for him.

so my Welsummer hen, Patsy Kline has been laying. And probably this is my week to have any Junior progeny collected... cloaca holding my future in Welsummers...
I set them aside now like they are gold. What do you all think?
I have a BO and dom coming my way from the classroom hatch. I’d still have two weeks of brooding left in those when these hatch. I have one brooder.

Ivermectin is Rx now?

I think it works so-so on worms I’ve heard anyways. Great on the external parasites. Wazine is presented in a water drench. But only good for round worms I think. It will not be broad spectrum.

I got a tube of safegaurd at fleet farm. For my adult birds though. I’ll give it when the laying is over. It’s broad spectrum. it’s geared for horses. Adult birds get a pea sized amount. Repeat in 9-10 days to get the worms that hatch from the eggs.

TFred that looks nasty. Is it yeasty do you think? Like vent gleet? Hard to clean up? Flies or maggots would be fly strike or it’s broken egg that’s cut/ infected her?

Last I saw.....2 weeks Ivermectin was not prescription.

Pretty sure ivermectin is not perscription, we just branded on Monday and my dad bought some without a prescription.
The Cochins picked up laying sometime last week, but I have a show in 6 weeks so no more setting eggs. I might set some right after State Fair so that I can have some matured Pullets and Cockerels for the summer shows next year.
If I get good fertility out of this hatch I will have some for sale in the fall, I don't want to end up with a bunch of birds from the same year. If there is interest I am brining some to Hutch but I will take more to Knoxville for sure.
Our 4×200 relay qualified yesterday, I sat out the rest of the day with a foot injury that I have been having for most of the year. Saturday is regionals so I am probably running the 400 and 200, I should be able to qualify in the 2 by time, and if not in the 400 too I can by place

Here are all of my 2018 Toad 2.0. They have an array of comb types and they almost look dirty with the coloring. Hoover is the largest (oldest) male and of course he was blessed with nearly a single comb. We lost 1 male to dislocated hock but we are left with 5 pullets and 2 cockerels. One pullet is nearly all brown. It is fun to see the different crosses.
