Surviving Minnesota!

BC Pumpkin seeds are junk fish! We love sunnies just don't keep any.

Are those Buff babies from me or MNchickmom? Looks like you have a pair...
I love pumpkin seed sunfish . Very pretty colors and good eating . I love catching the big ones out of lily pads in summer . My go to fish when crappie are not biting . Or when 10 fish are not enough for a meal . :D Of course I also eat real bullhead catfish .

Next hatch project in. 10 Icelandic eggs due the 16th. 6 OEGB eggs due the 19th. 12 guinea eggs due the 26th. The possibility of incubating more duck ( Blue and Black Swedish) eggs and turkey eggs too. Im addicted I think. I make no apologies. :)
Have any pics of your OEGB? Where do you get yours from?

Hey all..

First off.... @holm25 Who in your world considers sunfish junk fish? Please take a moment to slap them up alongside the head.

Jerry, Do you have any "trees" from those branches I sent you?

This heat is killing me and my chickens. I lost another toad rooster yesterday.

I cannot believe I would be the first to say, I am so over summer, after the winter we just had.

The girls have cut way back on egg laying. I was thinking this morning I have 75 freeloaders. Some will have to go.

I spend the last three days knocking on doors asking for votes... Way too hot to walk miles daily. I waved when I drove by Camboy and Mnchickmom. Met a bunch of great people though.

I have a few new chicks, one toad, 4-5 white legbars a couple PC and one lone SS.

The toads are finally giving me eggs (when everyone else stops) I will put a few in the incubator in a few days. I need maraks vaccine but am afraid to order it in this heat. With the way my post office operates it will be worthless when it gets to me.

Nothing else new.

On the good side I lost 5 pounds on Saturday.

Ralphie I know how you feel.. i have a lot of freeloaders too... All of which are being advertised... I hope to have them gone... I have the Legbars and older EEs sold I think... No takers on the culls lol...

I am going to give you a call later if youre around... I have some questions lol

It was nice last night so I took some pictures... OK I take pictures every might but it keeps me busy and I like it lol..

This heifer developed her grandmas top line... Was hoping to get rid of that but oh well... All of her aunts and sisters are easy keepers and Milking power houses that raise big calves... This heifer is a full sibling to the black #5 steer above...

A decent heifer... If she develops good she may be a potential keeper...

A nice steer..

I love these birds... Very easy keepers and the hens will lay just as much as any Leghorn....

And Mr. Ole waiting to get out with the ladies.. June 12th and he is free... Cows have been cycling so he will be a busy boy..

I think I am the only Minnesotan that eats real bullheads. We caught them in the river through the farm as kids and I liked them then and still do. I try to not admit it to anyone but my close friends because of the way most here look at us for it. I told you all when I was a kid we grew up quite poor, so bullheads were cheap good food that seemed to be in endless supply. I was just telling a friend the other day I was going to float the river (in a canoe) soon and get a mess of bullheads and my 10 Northerns. I am tired of buying fish that are sub-----par.

My son-in-law did come through with 10 pounds of smelt for me, so life is good on the fish front.

So what are you going to use 5 pounds of sun rendered Scandinavian oil for ? :gig
I have 2 pear trees . One grafted last year and a fresh grafted one . Should be able to send them next year . The apple is on a older tree . Just need a small rootstock for it to go onto .

Thanks. The guy I got them from was asking. If you get down this way this summer, I would like to show you his old trees. I think they are starting to get runners off the root stock.

What would they have used for root stock 30-50 years ago? It almost looks like a plum of some kind.
