I don’t like my speckled Sussex any longer, they have gotten a bit aggressive and just barely over a year old and aren’t laying although most of them have beautiful red combs and squat when I’m near. I’d have them processed but I’d like to have 4 replacements lined up. I don’t find signs of egg eating but it has crossed my mind.

I will say good morning or more accurately good day to all. The bird on the right looks more in line with the SOP, but I prefer the one on the left.
The one on the right looks too much like a sack full of feathers for my taste ?
The posts are becoming few and far between as of late. I imagine that many have a lot of chores to complete this time of year, and Ralphie is not posting things to get people stimulated.
I have not hatched a chick this year and that has made things easier for me, but that can't go on forever. Next year there will be more activity.

Post away and write something, anything so as to entertain the rest of us.

Lost out first bird today. Becky was 1.5 years. Had been healthy as best I can tell. I was gone last couple of days. When I found her a bit ago, waterer was also empty. Kids didn't do very well. Any way to tell what did her in, or what I should look for?

Daughter called earlier today to say this chicken had a white eyelid that was pushed up.

I don't think she'd been dead more than an hour or two when I found her. This is what her vent looks like right now. Any idea if this was before or after she died?

Young. Like 8 weeks. I have a leghorn and some Olive eggers...
