Surviving Minnesota!

Ok going to ask for recommendations . I am frustrated with tape measures that will not retract . So far the cheap Harbor Freight Pittsburg tape is outperforming the name Brands . Used to be tape measure retracting lasted as long as the tape . Now some break first time you go to a long length . Like 16 feet on a 25 foot tape . Ok rant over .

The campground I used to take my son camping is no longer enjoyable. They put up street lights and leave them on all night. Your tent is never dark. Vehicles, teens maybe? were driving through the campgrounds all night, someone's car alarm went off at 4 am...
I won't go back, wouldn't recommend the place to anyone. We only spent the one night there.

We use a 25' Stanley Powerlock. My dad has used it for as long ad I can remember. I love it, and have never had any problems with it

Yep, I just did this.... Chicks should be here by the end of this week.

I may need to rethink what breed of chickens I have or what I need to do differently. I realize I'm down to the 3 hens and the pullets should be starting soon, but I need more than one egg/day. I've had at least one broody hen all summer and sometimes two. That's not helping production. I need to decide which male to keep.

None of you told me that chickens would be something that would keep me awake!!

Any new pics of the males?

Kids are off to school. Was a bit nervous to see them drive out together. Still post accident jitters maybe.

I lifted pearl gently off roost this morning so she didn’t jolt herself getting down. Her roost exam revealed a lot of bruising near her crop area. She did eat some grass and feed after I posted yesterday and stretched her neck up when Sadie walked by in an alert pose. I’m thinking she’ll survive this since she drinks and eats. Poor sweet thing.

Last night Louie wanted to roost In the garage again. He scratched me and really fought half way to the coop. I understood why he struggled! Poor boy.

For the moment there is peace in my yard again

I agree with layers on the steel Stanley. Been using ours around here quite a few years.

But I understand that quality has been suffering lately in ‘new ‘ products as factories cut corners/ standards to save money.
