Surviving Minnesota!

Omg. I would love one. Hmarg you’re down by Houston right? That’s my Mother’s home town. Do you have some photos to get me to take the 6-7 hour trip? With our fox and bobcat hits I’ve been feeling like I’m not such a good keeper...

yes. I should get an updated photo for you.

I’m forever lassoed into this darn Halloween party that AlwaYS falls on the same Saturday!!! I’m going to say ‘no’ one year and get to Hutch... I tell you what! I’m this close!!!

TFred you have gorgeous PC’s . If I was smart I’d take one. But i have other breeds on my wish list for right now. :D

Any Salmon Faverolle roosters or black copper Marans? Those I have on my list to try.
I’d love a new picture!

Oh yeah I understand that. This is a busy weekend for a lot of people.

I’m hauling 6 birds to Hutch. Not looking forward to washing as there are some really dirty birds but what do you do..

Good luck to all going to Hutchinson. Hope you have some winners !
All this talk about roosters and swapping is not good, as it has the potential to motivate me to think I need more birds.
I hope Ralphie is enjoying this Politicking. He likely is as he is a social butterfly type. It would not be for me, as I might be tempted to eliminate some individuals from the gene pool ?!
As relates to gene pool elimination, those buck photos are very nice Jerry.
Not too big and old to produce tough and poor quality venison but still with respectable antlers.

Layers. He sounds amazing. But I'm not sure if my set up is right for LF cochin.

I think if I get a rooster, I'm going to get one that's on my wish list.

:eek:You had some Marans, Holms?! Shoot...

Believe me I am tempted by all of these birds, but I need to think about comb type, nimbleness in getting away from predators, temperment has been a factor--I do like not being chased or flogged. :gig Roger taught me how to deal. But Junior was lovely to not have my ankles bit and beaten.

Right now I have that cute little rescue Barred Rock Hen and she squats and submits with every approach. I mean with her laying and being low order pullet...she would have no back feathers left on her. :lau So sweet but very relenting.

Thank you all for dealing with me and my back and forth while I consider roosters. I'm such a pain....:idunno

Those things aren't anything you can control when free ranging. Mine are kind of fenced in a large area, but I still loose them to coons, and an owl so far, as wells as ones that jumped the fence and a coyote got them, it just never ends! I have three total that I don't want anymore, I have 5 roosters, and only 8 hens, and they are just too rough on them. The roosters have all been perfectly gentlemanly to me, but they are so so hard on the hens. If they each just had their own hens, they'd be fine, but they are all wrong in numbers. They are just so nice and I haven't found anyone to buy them so I've been holding onto them, but the poor hens have no feathers on their rumps. 2 are Blue laced red, and the last one is Black Laced Red. The 2 blues basically look identical so I'm uploading one blue, and the black. One of the blues was having a foot issue, but it seems to be almost better now. They are molting right now so look kind of terrible haha. They as well as my hens came from NPIP places the only things that didn't are the keets I brought from my parents, but I've never done any testing or anything here. The only other thing I have is my scovies. I have a bunch of them for sale if you wanted to take those back with you ;)

Oh, and yes! I'm very close to Houston!
