Icy out here this morning. I managed to just stay upright as I skated across the back step with a full bucket of water. The chickens were amused. I miss the sun.

Nice day here . My bantam is setting on 11 eggs . Wondered if she would set .

Not too shabby for a first year coach, we took 4th in state.

Saw a robin gathering dead grass for a nest . Saw my first garter snake of the season . Got a bantam mix hen going broody #2 . I will have to move her and give her some eggs . I may not even use a incubator this year . Another busy summer ahead .

The last couple weeks I have had a white legbar hen follow behind me when enter their pen.

I thought I felt her pecking my ankles but was not sure because I had muck boots and heavy jeans on. Then I decided I was wrong. My hens would never act like that.

Today I had on low shoes and like sweat pants on. Yep, she gets behind me and keeps pecking at my ankles. While I am feeding and watering her even.

We discussed her behavior and she made it clear she wants to go live with Princess. I guess they were BFFs.

Nope, she was very clear on what she wanted.. I cannot find one bird that wants princess back.


What this girl wants does not really matter. I need her genes. So she stays no matter how much she bites me.
