Surviving Minnesota!

Had a breech calf this morning. Calf was DOA.
:( that stinks.
Hubby helped deliver one the other day that came out with its front legs bowed really bad. They didn't think it was going to be able to stand up but it did.
They are having to bottle feed it since it can't stand well enough to get to mama to properly suck. Adorable little thing. I'm not sure what they are going to do about it. They want me to bring it home and take care of it.

I don't know if I wanna.

Sorry to hear about that Holm.

We have had good luck so far, no twins, no pulling and everyone is doing good.

Do any of you know of anyone who breeds Bantam Partridge Wyandottes? My younger sisters only hen prolapsed and she did make it but I am still a bit skeptical if she will live.

Oh no Holms. Sorry to hear of the lost calf. What is the mother’s prognosis?

My brother had a black angus abort her calf 2 weeks ago, (4 weeks early) then he found mother under the feed bunk with broken leg. Farming is not for the faint of heart.

First, I happened to snap a picture of the incredible splitting cat that herds chickens...View attachment 1736317

Also I have decided to have a symposium here next month. Please register now,,,send entry fees early and often..

The class will be on Egg Production in the backyard flock,

I counted and I have 36 hens, all the birds have been inside for two days. I gathered 6 chicken eggs! How many others can brag about those numbers?

In addition I have 11 turkey hens and got 1 turkey egg... I am going to living high on the hog with all these eggs to sell....

Also Erlibrd I have to keep Princess's sister. She laid one of the eggs.
Sounds like my layers this last week. They have slacked off considerably. I guess that's ok though, farmers markets don't start up here until July. I fried 16 dozen chicken embryo's today and fed them back to them.

And I'm happy to say, I got my taxed done last Tuesday. I used to be a tax accountant. Mine have always been done last minute. I consider getting them done early this year to be quite the accomplishment.
