Surviving Minnesota!

We have at least 6” of snow, but I’ve been outside for around an hour and a half and didn’t measure when I came back in. Still snowing. It’s 29 degrees, so there’s that. The cows’ water was only slushy so I didn’t need the mallet...

I am SO over winter.

I just looked at the 14 day forecast people. 54 highs (1 60 degree) and night time lows of 30 and 31 don’t have me the most excited. Earlier this week I was going to work in my shortsleeves or longsleeves. Coats have been put away. I had to dig them out again! We have mud season for the 3rd time. Slimy clay. I want a clean car... more than one day this spring. :hit

Jerry I need to get the trees in this week. It’s not just a matter of digging holes around here. With our big brown goats around here with flashy white tails -they will not last the week without fencing of some sort. Dirty buggers. Although the white tails seem to be concentrated in the green ditches as of right now threatening to dent my dirty clay car.

7 hens -5 are laying. I think the 3 year old Ameraucana are done. Lavender and blue. But they always get a chance around here. The Welsummer just started this weekend. She’s 3 years old too. We’ll let the Ameraucanas be. They are so pretty and strong anyways.

Prom last weekend. We’re recovered now. I think. In laws returned from Texas. BB banquet last week.

Helping mom get adjusted and things done around the house she wants done. Dad really did a lot outside even while he was ill. It’s like herding cats to get kids to help or DH if I can’t do it. DS was taught a lot about G’pa’s John Deere utility tractor before grandpa passed but he’s a busy boy too. We did manage to get a load of junk in the pick up truck destined for the dump yesterday. That always feels good.
That’s about it for me. I’m pretty boring chicken wise. Might be getting a rooster soon...

Morning! It's foggy up here this morning, but the sun is rapidly burning it off. Finally going to be a good weather day.

Turkey eggs went into lockdown. I didn't even need to candle, they were rocking quite a bit last night.

Our big dummy, Ruby, is excited to have new babies/food. She doesn't harm the chickens, she's just curious, but they make up a large part of her diet.
