Surviving Minnesota!

It rained the whole time at regionals yesterday, most of the time the windchill was below 25°, we were all cold and wet. I was able to add 2 more events for state, I have 5 now. I did not do either of the hurdles, which kept me from qualifying in the 100 hurdles which was a bummer, it was not worth the risk of injury.
This is what we woke to this morning

Fresh snow this time of year is crazy!!

Hello. I’m newbie chicken lady from North Dakota. Pretty quiet in that thread so thought I’d say hi here. Happy May 18. My 11 seven week old and 5 five week old chicks had no desire to come out when I let them out this morning.
Yeah, snow here in SD, too. Welcome to you :frow (the snow, otoh, has long ago overstayed its welcome.) It is now 35, so the snow has melted. No problem, though. We’re promised plenty more tomorrow.

For everyone wanting spring. Lilacs about a week ago .

Few questions for you winter tolerant folks... do you feed in or out of the coop? I hear mostly out, but winter too? How about water? I can run extension cord in winter but no power so was thinking water inside at least in winter and switching out to prevent freezing (horizontal nipples). Looking at grandpa’s and or bucket no waste feeders once chicks bit bigger. Thoughts?
