Well I went to the clinic to ask a PA for more thyroid medicine a month ago. 1 lab test. They charged my insurance $591! Insane! Because I have a hsa and bcbs with $6000 deductible, They knocked it down to the contracted price of $213. Don’t even get me started.... lol.

Ralphie its a pretty view. Is it near Ed’s hawk’s ridge?

TFred he is a honey.... I think he’s fought something here too. He’s missing more than one primary on one wing. A gap of feathers gone. A spur looked broken off. I dont know... this had to be 2 weeks ago or so... but he’s healthy intact otherwise. I think he’s too big to handle.. you know. he is leading my hens. They like him quite a lot. He crows In the morning but he quiets after a bit. We don’t have close full time neighbors so I’m a bit unconscious about it.
I have a barnevelder cockerel coming up. If he’s a turd he’s soup and I gotta keep that good boy. If he’s ok then I’d reassess Sentry going back if you wanted to send the yodler to Ralphie...?
Just ideas passing thru my mind as I’m sensing some remorse. Are the kids missing him?

You're killing me. I knew I sent off the wrong rooster. The younger that we kept crows a ton, does little gifting, and has few instincts other than breeding. I tossed a little garder snake in the run the other night and he had no interest. Could not have cared less.

These were from the rest area on the west end of Duluth, actually in Proctor. Hawks Ridge is on the east side beyond UMD.

These were easy to grab on my way out of town to post on another thread.

Ed’s in Proctorish I think... I thought hawks ridge was over there too. Or maybe he has hawks aplenty there too riding the drafts.

I think they fly the whole ridge.. but I never looked for them myself...

Left for Iowa for a family get together at 3:30 this morning. There are some nasty storms brewing out here today, last night it only dropped to 70° and this morning when I got up it was 71° with 95% humidity.

Morning . High of 90 today . I have been resting and slowly getting things done . Mowing is mostly done . Garden needs attention . Black raspberries getting ripe . Eating raspberries right off the bush .

Storming here this morning. First real thunderstorm of the year really, it's been too cool before now. I stood outside my office watching the curtain of rain come across the fields. I love a good thunderstorm.

To clarify. Hawk's Ridge is on the E side of Duluth above the neighborhood known as Lakeside. The hawks actually travel along the shore of Lake Superior to avoid flying over the large water expanse. So that channels a very large number of hawks through this area especially during the fall migration.
Although I am in Hermantown but very near to Proctor and Adolph the hawks migrate through here in large numbers. Over the years I lost many racing pigeons and chickens to predator hawks. Now not so much as I have resident Ravens which nest on the edge of my yard and keep the hawks chased off most of the time.
Ralphie you have likely done this but if not take the Skyline Parkway drive past Spirit Mountain all the way to Beck,s road in the fall when the leaves have turned. It is beautiful and also offers a scenic overlook of the St Louis bay and river.

Common sense is going on holiday and next week there will be quite a number of juvenile birds coming to reside with me. Wheaten Marans and Icelandics.

I thought about going there or above Spirit Mountain, bear the chalets to take a picture, but I was in a hurry to get back home. The heat in Duluth was killing me...(not something you hear said very often)
