We had dinner at the in-laws tonight. I came home and looked for Kitty on the roost. Not there. She was in the nesting box on the porch. sleeping there. Poor thing. I thought I'd find her dead on the deck or more ill. But actually she didn't look too bad. no maggots can be seen and the chewed on area (which is large) had hardened and darkened like a scab.
Did the Chlorhexadine (hibiclens) More Vetericyn spray. And I did that ear mite medication again that has the spectrum for flies as well. it seems to be soothing I think. She might have a larger abodomen but I'll need to rule out that its not a fluid or inflammation response to the fly strike. I'll keep with her as long as she struggles strongly in my arms during her treatments and as long as the wound continues to dry up and look better all the time. If she weakens then I'll know I'm losing out on her.
After seeing the wound I'm encouraged.
