Surviving Minnesota!

It gets better....this couple, who live in New Mexico, think it gets too cold for the turkeys at night in the winter, so they let them sleep in bed with them!

True!! Ask Ralph & Holm! I guess its like having house ducks or chickens.

Our dogs don't sleep in bed with us! They must put diapers on them! Oh I would love to see this on a sit-com. Now, this being me I need to ask if you are a dude or dudess? LOL. Everyone laugh here. Thank you!

Rhett, Wow I did not realize your brother in law owned the cow... It explains some holes in my thought process and timeline..

I was wondering why your BIL was telling you no vet...duh,,,, I can be slow to extremely slow depending on the day..

Ivie the turkey in bed has taken me a little time to wrap my head around too. And YES they make diapers for chickens and turkeys and some people use them....

I know there was more I wanted to comment on, but I forget at the moment, I will later, trust me..

I am heading to runnings!!! I need to leave before you-know-who gets home from work, I will wave at your chickens when I go by Ivie.. Do you want me to stop and change their diapers??

Chickens are so weird. It is snowing here so they all went into the coop. They stand at the door and look out at the snow falling. I was walking towards the coop and the chickens that are afraid of the snow. All of a sudden Muffin comes running as fast as she can to me. I have no food, she does not let me pick her up or touch her. She just runs to me, gets alongside me and walks back to her coop with me....... Silly bird!

I got 13 eggs from my layers yesterday. I got 5 today. Does this make any sense?

The turkey Toms actually behaved. I wore my sorels because I was sure I would be chasing them through the snow, When I came out the door they were over by their pen. They also come running to meet me, because they are turkeys and turkeys are nothing more than big feathered dogs.

When they get close they all let out a gobble, Just to say Hi, I put my arms out to my sides and said " turn around everyone back to bed. Time to go nigh night"

Like this is ever going to work... I DID!! they all walked back into their pen with me just following them. It has never happened before! Even Porter went in without running me around the buildings!!!

Porter figures he is Coffee's kid and does not have to listen to me anymore...

TTYL after RUnnings!

Ivie..dudess! And no, they don't use turkey diapers! Ralph is right...turkeys are like dogs with feathers. Holm has a harness & sweater for his...but he hasn't posted any pictures. ..yet!

Rhetts...my dad was a vet. He spent a lot of time looking at folks heifers because of nervous owners. Apparently it's a process as the calf moves into position. From your description she seems uncomfortable but not distressed. I think you would see a huge change in her demeanor if she was in trouble. That's my 2 cents. I don't know...I used to avoid the cattle. I do know if he had to trudge through a field with jerk cattle, bulls mostly, he took a baseball bat. :hide

This is nice...this afternoon we've got a good lady chat going on!!! usually there's alot of men folk on here...but I do enjoy my lady chat too.

Off to a Basketball game though. The Youngins are playing...both are.

Memphis I think you're Southern Accent is rubbing off on me.

Bogtown-good luck with the kiddos games. This is coming into your busy season I suppose. When does it wrap up for you? March? I am in the calm before the storm. My 'busy season' starts April and runs through Mother's Day weekend for the big finish. Dance, dance, dance. So busy then. And I doubled in my numbers of kids in dance from last year to this year. I have no idea if I will make it through the chaos misnamed 'recital'.

Thanks. It does seem like she is not hurting or in pain or distress at all yet. Maybe time is all she needs..............

I have mentioned that I have three dogs - Abbey, our rescued black lab; Jacq and then Cousteau - both little 15 pounders. Jacq being the oldest is the noisy one. Barks and whines more than the other two. Now I am finally realizing that his whinning is making the sounds I make! After nine years I just noticed this last week. You know that sound that a person makes when they say "I don't know." Only its a sound right? Well, I will ask Jacq how he's doing and he makes that sound. In years past I have actually responded to him saying ' you don't know?" Never thought anything about it. Now that Ralphie mentioned that the turkeys are dogs with feathers on their legs and that they gobble to say hi - it reminded me of that. The chickens talk to me too but then you guys all know about that too. Those chickens will be very angry toward me when I walk into the run tomorrow after being gone since Sunday. I have to go home for a few hours to get some business stuff done - OH! and see my DH (coffee.)

So my 6 year old granddaughter has three recitals this year. And I guess three competitions also. Hmmmm - they should be starting pretty soon.
